You must post in this thread if you've ever gone a day in your life without health insurance.

I figure most of you are children (this does not imply that you are under 18 years of age) from the white middle class and have never been without health insurance.

As for me, I was uninsured from 18 to 22 and from 24 to 27.

I didn't have $300 a month to get health insurance. I never needed it, and never saw a doctor. No big deal.

I'm currently 19 and have never had it for a day in my life. I took a lot of natural herbs as a kid and stayed home when I was sick. I went to the clinic a couple of times and my single-parent mom usually was upset because she had to pay for it out of pocket, usually couldn't afford it so it was usually years between visits. She ended up getting breast cancer twice and was on medicaid because of it. Personally if you live a healthy life, then it's really not needed. I'm personally for the public option because it adds that security I've never felt. While it could be argued that my mom could've chose a more successful career to go into, why should the child suffer?

I've never had health insurance... which would seem strange, considering I suffer from MS, which means I need medication that costs >$1000 per month, annual MRI's @~$600, and 6 monthly trips to a neurologist @~$500.
All this, and I'm a uni student who works 2 days a week.

But, the govt subsidies the expense of my medication (now $35 per month), and pays ~80% of my other expenses. If my out-of-pocked expenses exceed $1000 in any calendar year... the govt pays for everything.

Nobody NEEDS to have insurance for anything... until something goes wrong. Your argument that...
    > never needed it, and never saw a doctor.
... is akin to never getting car insurance, because you've never had an accident or breakdown. Which is great until someone torches your fucking car.

Hi. I'm 26. I used to work at wal-mart, cart courtesy associate. You know the guy walking the parking lot collecting carts, and also moving your 'too heavy to lift yourself' items and putting them in your car? that was me. I used to walk none stop for hours everyday, skipping my 15 minute break every two hours because I had to, and I only took half hour lunches. I moved somewhere in the neighbor hood of six hundred carts five times a day. I did this for barely nine months when I began having pain in my chest, my left arm, shortness of breath, dizzy spells, and moments of near black out. This terrified me. I went to the emergency room because I do not have health care. Not even through walmart. Why? because the only care they offered was some third party that required a thousand dollars before they paid anything for you. And if you do not think that is much, let me just tell you, I worked for ten months solid and was only able to save of one thousand dollars from food, transportation and entertainment expenses. Also, wal-marts official healthcare could only be received by people who had worked for them for a full year. So. yeah. I could not afford either. I went to the ER, they did EKGS, a 24 hour heart monitor, and found nothing... so they told me it was panic attacks. I was sent to a mental health clinic where they tried to prescribe medications I could not afford. I tired to continue working for a month but the pains didn't stop. Nor did the fear of heat attack. Two more trips to the ER BOTH finding nothing and I was now several thousand dollars in debt, unable to work from the pain, and going through mental health classes dealing with emotions.

    --continued

    -concluded

That was two years ago this June. The pains did not stop. I went to a clinic, with a few months long waiting list, and the person examined me by poking with her fingers.

She finally told me I had double sinus infections, Gas, and tendinitis in my left arm, rotary cuff, and trapezoid. It cost me a 10 dollar donation. I am eating more fiber, stretching my rotary cuff, and taking claritin. I haven't had the pains again. and no panic attacks.

but I still have the debut from the three failed ER visits. The mental health sessions. and credits cards since I had to live off of them. I had to quit my job you see. I couldn't do it anymore. and that wal-mart? closed down and moved away to become a Super center too far out of my transport/gas price range.

I'm still looking for a job. still trying to survive. and wondering why, just why, ten dollars solved all my problems when many thousands of 'professional opinions' could not.

    Does that answer your question?

I could get healthcare at any point but I dont because I fuckin deal with colds and coughs and keep a fair amount in my savings for when I break something or have a major accident. And you know what, not paying for it saves me money in the long run because as of yet Iv never had to use it..... ever.

I did say that earlier. and repeated it in my second reply. The only health care available through walmart one had to wait a year for. Or the other option was a third party provider that you had to pay in a thousands dollars first before they would co-pay with you.

You are obviously someone who has not read my posts or a troll. In either case. I spoke the truth and said my peace. Believe me or do not, I won't waste time arguing with you anymore. Have a good day.

I'm 26, and have only had health insurance for 5 months in 2007 when I worked at a bank. I never had it as a kid (parents made "too much" for medicaid, but barely had the bills paid for several years), and that brief period I had a full time job was the only part of my adult life I had it. I don't have many options where I live to get insurance with a job.

    Buy a blood glucose meter

    stick your finger

high blood glucose + other symptoms=Hypoglycemia

Blood Glucose meter last time I checked was about 50 bucks

Some doctors would want to have a second or series of checks to confirm its not a single glucose spike. But again thats why they have blood glucose meters you can buy in stores

meanwhile in the intervening period you can adjust your diet which will keep you from dying

Checking Blood Glucose + other symptoms IS the medical protocol for the diagnosis

    Canada here.

No. I spent my money on getting an education, and saving for my retirement instead.

Thats why our country is so fucking awesome, the province will take of us if we get sick, and since we don't have to worry about that, we are free to take care of the rest.

    suck it, faggots

NZ fag here. Don't need insurance, haven't had it since I was a kid. I could pay up to 300 dollars a year for health insurance, and that would cover any co-pays I may have to pay for the doctor and get me into a plush private hospital for any elective surgeries, but the public option works just fine for me. Universal Health Care for the win!
