So, I went to america back in january.
    Australiafag here.
A few questions regarding your news systems.

    1) What good is any news station currently on the air in America? They're all either so far blue or red (I think that's what you might call them anyway) that any relevant political news that comes off them might as well be flushed down the loo with what's left of the shit I took yesterday.

2). BBC World News seems to me to be vastly better in content and broader in the range of issues it looks at. And for that matter, it looks at issues on a global scale, not a local one.

Would this be because I'm from the empire or do Americans just genuinely not give a fuck about the rest of the world?

3). You don't have to be a genius to determine that the news is biased. So why the fuck are you yanks still watching the bullshit?

Seriously, I put on FOX and caught nothing but a bunch of elderly statesmen giving Obama shit about his healthcare plan. Then I switched over to something else and got exactly the opposite.
I mean, what the fuck man.

Despite their (minor) ideological differences, US media outlets report on everything with an "Amuric strong, fuck yur" line

Only fox news does that. The rest hold an implicit(and sometimes explicit) hatred of america and whites in general.

    actually, this as well.

I understand they're catering to American audiences, but surely there's no value in keeping your audiences in the vast awesomeness of America's power when in reality it got its ass handed to it by a well-trained series of guerillas.

American news is pretty awful. I personally watch BBC when I'm in an acutal news-news mood but I watch Fox/CNN/MSNBC when I'm in the mood to watch some political theatre.

Most people my age (mid 20's) tolerate it because of apathy. Virtually everyone I've met recognizes that both sides are retarded to various degrees and just accepts that what they're being fed is biased.

Also, it's true that the vast majority of Americans really give fuck-all about the rest of the world. In my mind we're just wired to do whatever we want.

    >Australian journalist, author, film maker John Pilger speaks about global media consolidation, war by journalism, US military's quest for domination/hegemony in the post 9/11 era, false history in the guise of 'objective' journalism.

Thank you for summarizing everything I could hope to say into one video.

    >Political theatre

Yes. But what really worries me is that (some) USfags actually pay attention to it and it's raising a nation of dickwits who wouldn't know what unbiased media was if it turkey slapped them.

    >1) What good is any news station currently on the air in America?

They're all bad. The best one is probably CNN, but like I said, they're all bad. I don't recommend watching American news channels at all, unless there is something big happening and it's necessary, or if you just happen to like some commentator. Watching them as a news source is a bad idea.

    >2). BBC World News seems to me to be vastly better in content and broader in the range of issues it looks at.

    I don't get this channel, so I can't comment.

    >Would this be because I'm from the empire or do Americans just genuinely not give a fuck about the rest of the world?

Most Americans don't give a fuck about the rest of the world.

    >3). You don't have to be a genius to determine that the news is biased. So why the fuck are you yanks still watching the bullshit?

I'm not. If you want decent news from American sources, your main options are newspapers or their respective websites. The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal are good examples.

Yeah that's true to. . . America has always been a mob though, and our leaders have always guided that mob into one misadventure after the next.

The only difference between todays leaders and the leaders of the past is that current leaders can pull the wool over the majority's eyes in a relatively unsophisticated manner: "HERP WMDS DERP" vs. perposefully allowing U.S. assets to be attacked by overzealous opponents.

I like to listen to NPR for laughs. Non-stop droll drivel. I'm...like WOW....no wonder this is paid for by government....nobody would pay money to hear this drool.
    >> Anonymous 03/05/10(Fri)11:30 No.283082
American news is terrible because they focus on the drama and gossip of politics and government. They do not do any actual investigation of the issue or the topic because drama and gossip is cheaper and thus profitable.

If you think American TV news in general is bad, wait until you see American local tv news. Good luck getting any real hard news from there.

Finally, why no one is talking about PBS Newshour?
