Generally use multiple sources and your common sense, distrust everything.....don't assume something is lying because it's not what you want to hear, don't assume something is true because it is. Ignore everything in newspapers/agencies except the solid facts.

What's ironic about what you just said is that John Stewart's show has more journalistic integrity than most other popular pundits "fox news" but doesnt get treated with respect in an argument because he's a comedian.

To be fair, Stewart DOES have a modest amount of intellectual and insightful commentary on current events on his show. That being said, I don't believe he could be trusted as a real news source.

He's definitely the best, most informed political interviewer on television and while he is a bit left of center, as any sane person is, he's not an asshole about it. As long as someone doesn't come on the show trying to bullshit him they're going to be able to walk away with their dignity intact. I love, say, when Mike Huckabee is a guest because while he and Stewart are diametrically opposed the interview is always affable and fun and everyone gets a chance to make an argument that sticks. Try having Michael Moore on Sean Hannity and see how much respect he gets.

I appreciate your rational response. I wish other had as much tact as you good sir.

With that being said, his show's appeal is the calling out of the hypocritical bs thats plaguing politics. And for what it's worth, he's always been able to hold his own against his invited guests in calling out their bs.

Has to be the BBC. The licensing law that UK citizens pay for means that no other corporation can threaten to take away funding if they say anything harmful or voice an opinion that somone wouldn't agree with.

Jon Stewart getting interviewed/debated by Bill O'reilly was pretty damn awesome, and it even brought in some light of what Jon really thought about Obama - even if he's having trouble swallowing the fact our president might as well be considered nothing more than mediocre. For this, I respect Jon for standing up for what he really believes in politics and his leaders when being interviewed by that god-awful, interrupting faggot O'reilly.

Seriously, that "interview" made me rage. Every other sentance Bill interjected with some right-wing talking point or dismissive comment. Several times he threw out statistics seemingly at odds with Stewart's line of thought but didn't allow Stewart to refute those statistics . .. instead moving onto another topic. After that interview I made a consious effort to watch Bill's TV show and I quickly realized he does that to virtually everyone he disagrees with.

Bill seems to think that people won't do his show because his interviews are so "tough" when the reality is they're just disrespectful.
