  • Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows. Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in 24-48 hours. Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

could someone gimme the gist of what's happening with the health care shit?
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)20:38 No.240328
    1. Dems come up with piece of shit that has only one good point--a public option
    2. Some morons think that the public option is not an option and bitch because they don't want socialized medicince
3.Liberals don't have a spine, so they puss out and take the public option out of the senate bill--leaving only the shit.
    4. Now, they decide to get a spine and ram the watered down shit bill through--making both sides fucking irate since the left believes they should have pushed forward with the public option, and the right doesn't want to overhaul healthcare so much.

    Seriously, either extreme was better.

health insurance industry wants their investment in their politicians to return something. politicians make health-insurance mandatory for every american, so the health insurance companies can sell hundreds of millions of useless do-nothing policies (say, $50 a year for $500 of emergency-room coverage).
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)20:55 No.240430
They're making it so that people have to have health care and yet they're not trying to lower the costs of the actual insurance costs.

TORT reform and allowing across state lines are two easy things he could have done that would make it seem like he's fixing healthcare.

The appearance of success is better than actual success. Look at the stimulus and bailouts, even I feel bad for Obama with all the shit he gets for that.

tort reform to eliminate predatory lawsuits and fraud are all that is required to 'fix' healthcare. a change in licensing policies to allow a lower class of doctor who can do the grunt-work would also help. it's economic; decrease doctors operating costs and increase the number of doctors, doctors will have to lower their prices. but it will never happen as long as the lawyers control everything.

    >tort reform

You say that like it's easy. It's not like we can just set aside "this is how doctors get sued," we'd be changing the whole system around wouldn't we?
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)21:27 No.240622
obamas plan will cost billions, lower the quality of care and fuck everyone over

the republican plan will actually lower prices

    >>240612
yea, it would be hard. it's also sorely needed, and not just with regards to doctors. the predatory lawsuits we have in america are shameful (RIAA, anyone?). basically we just need to set rules for determination of damages, rather than leaving it complete in the hands of the judges (who have always been and will always be massively corrupt motherfuckers).

Learn to healthcare death spiral. This is how the death spiral works:
    1. Healthy people choose not to get insurance due to high costs.
    2. Because there are fewer healthy people to cover all the sick ones, insurance companies increase costs.
    3. More healthy people leave, companies increase costs again, etc. until nobody can afford health insurance.

Covering just a few more healthy people would automatically bring down healthcare costs. Companies would decrease costs, bringing in more people, leading to more cost cuts, and so on.

    the basic deal is-

OBAMA HAS CUT DEALS WITH THE HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES..to force everyone to buy private insurance policies at market rates from these companies..
in exchange, he gets to claim some basic reforms that they agreed to, and which he could have enacted anyway legislatively..
also his plan throws all deadbeats onto medicaid which means the cost of your forced policy is now also paying for millions of non-working niggers with 10 kids and no jobs..

THE REPUBLICANS CUT A DEAL WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES to oppose any changes since they are making record profits without meddling in the current system..

END RESULT= IF a plan is passed, and its either obamas plan or the republicans plan, the health insurance companies win big either way,
and blue-collar working people are totally screwed.

fine by me, since we are paying for them anyway to go to the emergency room when they are sick.

The only rebuttal that conservatives have on this point is to somehow convince doctors to not treat dying people and have them die in the street, which is what most of them do anyway, since you can't fix cancer in the ER.

maybe now the most destitute can now be of more use to society, instead of wallowing in filth they cannot afford to leave.

Next project: 80 percent of america is fucking fat. How do we fix this without faggot libertarians demanding liberty burgers or death.

except if it's made ILLEGAL to not have health insurance, there is no reason for the insurance companies to lower their costs.

    wrong..
the tab for much of this shit nigger population that traipses into the emergency room is never passed on to the public..

it gets compensated at medicare rates.. which are way below actual rates of cost..
so the health care companies eat the difference now..

under obamas plan.. the middle class which has been marched at bayonet point to purchase their forced policy..
    for each family member..
at market rates set by the private company..

they will now pay the costs that used to get dumped on large health care concerns who didnt like getting the bill..
so now obama plan gives that bill to the middle class.. bend over..

i guess we'll just have to implement a fat tax and ban all private food production. the government will have total control of all crops, and only government-produced food will be legal. people found in possession of non-government food will be imprisoned in fat-camps where they will work manual labor until such a time as they are in shape or their sentence (say, a day for every calorie of non-gov food) passes, whichever comes last.

Will never gonna happen on a senate/white house level with cameras present. As soon as those people are behind closed doors I really doubt they start with the stories and other shit that came up during the debate on cspan.
