Why is the BBC so left wing?

I started watching it the other day and from what I can tell, they're way more liberal than MSNBC which I didn't even think was possible.

I guess it's a question for British people too. Why are you such leftists?

    >Why is the BBC so left wing?
Because the current government is left wing.

    >more liberal than MSNBC
lol americans. Even your Democrats are extreme conservatives compared to OUR parties. Your conservatives are talking about Jesus and guns... our conservatives think it's maybe not a good idea to give free university education and cable TV to prisoners.

Are you talking about BBCNews, OP?
    >> Anonymous 02/24/10(Wed)10:43 No.214451
The reason why you may perceive the BBC as left wing is because they they focus on the truth. Truth has a natural liberal bias.

    Not all British are leftists.

Btw., "liberal" means something completely different outside the USA.

It's owned by the fucking government. Their citizens pay fucking taxes so they can be told lies.

It's not tax if it's optional. And it's not owned or run by the government.

It's owned by the British taxpayer, but in reality owned by the government. However, the government is not allowed to run it by law, that job falls to the BBC Trust, an independent body.

If they do things the government doesn't like, the government can always stop enforcing the TV licence.

    >Why is the BBC so left wing?
In Europe, our most conservative party would be considered left wingers in usa
    >> Anonymous 02/24/10(Wed)11:06 No.214539
The USA perspective of 'left wing' and 'right wing' is completely fucked.

No it isn't. It's just that most European countries don't have a meaningful right wing anymore. They only have left and slightly farther left.

The BNP wanted to kick out all nonwhites from the UK. I don't think that would be considered left wing from a USA perspective.
