OH LAWD
Shit,
if Bill O'Reilly's a fan of the Colbert Report, I think you're allowed
to be.
Basically, again, 95% of what they do is just take clips
of politicians and pundits lying about their record, positions, and past
statements, and then just play clips that demonstrate how they're full
of shit. It's what REAL journalists should do, but don't, ever.
Politicians and pundits go on TV news to spout bullshit talking points,
safe and secure in the knowledge that they will never, ever be called on
it. Ever. It's not that Colbert and Stewart are really any good, it's
just they do a halfassed job of actually being journalists, and nobody
else does.
The way Stewart savaged Jim Cramer for not only being
wrong about everything but also borderline criminal should be standard
practice. After the meltdown in 2008, for example, every economist on a
TV show afterward, before they got to jerk off in our faces on the air
over what needs to be done now that we're in this big crisis, should've
been asked, in a non-confrontational way: "This disaster caught you
completely by surprise/you were telling us everything's great and fine.
Please explain to our viewers why any of them should listen to a single
word you have to say."
The only person who ever did was Jon
fucking Stewart. Like I say, their one service is to show us how
unspeakably awful the 'news' networks are at their jobs. And it's funny. |
