Golf is an
industry that can sell one stupid ass club for 5000 dollars and you have
to own like 12 of them to play the game.
It's hard for people to
get why this is a big deal outside of that concept.
Think about
it like this:
Who plays golf? Old rich white guys.
What
do old rich white guys tend to be ?
Family men, Christians,
business owners, retirees
What did Tiger Woods do to make all his
money? He sold golfing equipment, resorts, hotels, etc. based on his
fame as a golfer to these rich, family men, white christian retiree
golfers. It's one of the largest upscale markets in the world. He had
this squeaky clean image that was worth billions of dollars.
He
destroyed it all, he can go back and win golf tournaments and shit for
the rest of his life, the real money is in all that productization of
his name, and he'll never have that again with the rich white christian
types he had it before. He blew up his market.
That's why it's a
