Not
really egotistical, rather they are afraid of admitting that their
lives are short lived and insignificant. They want to be seen as
imporant, influential, connected and with it.
Facebook and
Twitter are the genie come to grant everyone's (the small people's)
wishes by making them instantly famous, the center of a huge circle of
friends, as someone important and necessary, a worthy person and a good
human being. The wishbringer cometh to give the common man everything
he's always wanted... and all he asks in return is their name, their
address, their gender, their sexual orientation, their marital status,
their religion, their spending habits, their political affiliation,
their phone number... that's all he wants... easy enough, just fill out
this form, it'll take you five minutes.
Facebook is a deal with
the devil for the typical Joe and Jane Six Pack to become the person
they've always dreamed to be. Unfortunately it is not real and is only
an illusion created to serve the interests of corporate marketers and,
I would guess government agencies who will eventually seize and
catalogue this information. |
