    >You may have heard people say that it is "too cold to snow". However, this expression is not strictly true, as snow could fall from air of any temperature. In reality though, snow rarely falls from air that is very cold. This is because cold air cannot usually hold enough moisture for any type of precipitation. So in this way, the expression does have some truth in it.
    snow

    >In fact, the heaviest snowfalls occur when the temperature is at freezing point. More snow falls in a year in the southern part of Canada and the northern part of the United States than at the North Pole for exactly this reason.
    >> Anonymous 02/11/10(Thu)22:28 No.131571
    http://www.theairlinepilots.com/met/snow.htm

    >Interestingly, the ideal conditions for snow are temperatures close to and just below zero, rather than colder temperatures. This is because the warmer the snow, the more moisture it will contain, and hence the bigger the flakes will be; and because a temperature close to 32° F (0° C) will allow snow to melt, refreeze, and combine in larger flakes. As a result, very slight changes in temperature can mean the difference between snow or rain, making accurate forecasts difficult.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100205095712AAdFlRL

    >I have some experience with snow-making. First, the most important factor is humidity. The temperature is actually secondary. If the temperature is just below freezing, you need a low relative humidity of like 30% or less. This is not common. When the temperature drops to the teens and below, you can make snow in much higher humidity. Therefore, that's why skihills are so happy when the temperature plunges, the humidity level doesn't matter so we will be making snow.

    >Back to your question, humidity would appear to be a significant factor. In general, my answer would be the warmest temperature that is below freezing that humidity allows snowflake formation. For example, in low humidity, just below freezing would be optimum for snow. As humidity goes up, the optimum temperature would go down.

Can we all shut up now?

Average global temperatures have been DECREASING for 8 years straight, which probably means that the earth heats and cools in CYCLES, which kinda makes sense, and that we just finished up a warm snap and are entering a cooling phase, which actually might have disastrous consequences on agriculture worldwide, which is why green bullshit is bullshit because it is anti-development and seeks to drag the 1st world down to 3rd world conditions instead of propping up shit countries and making them not so shit.

How about links to reliable resources.

No one that understands global warming says humans have caused global warming; what we're saying is humans vastly increase the effects.

e.g. gas doesn't cause a fire. A fire will ignite or burn regardless of whether or not you dump gasoline on it. However, if you dump a gallon of gas on this fire, the shit explodes and the problem is worse than it could've been.

yeah i get what ur syaing and then you can date it with carbon dating, but it leaves a big margin for temperatures in which a penguin like creature could survive ( i am working under the assumption that evolution exists) so lets say for arguments sake that we find a bed of fossils with penguins and date that bed of fossils to 300k bc. with that we can predict that the temperature in the area where we found them was between -20 and 0 celcius (not a eurofag but 10's are easier for dumbfucks) the picture still isnt 100% clear what the exact temperature is, and since we are dealing with the entire globe and hundreds of thousands of years of "data" it is easy to push all the numbers one way so that it could be "acceptable" and reasonable, but still show a picture that is entirely convincing, but not entirely true.

    Blame: Americans

Solution: Use different kinds of grocery bags (they're a little more expensive but it really saves the entire planet), buy a brand new car (parts for repair will probably be incredibly expensive since it's new technology but it really saves the entire planet), redo the heating and cooling in your house and change out every light bulb to be energy efficient (it will probably run you several thousand dollars but the government says they're considering a plan to give you SOME money back and it will really save the entire planet).

Also, the above will only work if millions and millions of people, plus huge international corporations, follow suit, but don't let that fact discourage you. I'm sure you have over $10,000 to throw around anyway even if nobody else participates!

But hmm...wouldn't that kind of create HUGE profits for certain "green" companies?

For the last two thousand years, definitely

No it hasnt. It was much hotter 70 million years ago, with 3x the CO2 in the atmosphere, and there was more life on earth than present. The earth is a system, and its climate constantly changes

Note how he said "on record".

I guess you conservatives wouldn't know what that means because you simply make up "facts" and have no need to record them.

Yes, a species that can completely obliterate an island with a bomb has zero impact on earth.

Note how much of the life that existed back then doesn't today.

Not all life thrives or survives in all environments. Humans are best suited for mild temperatures and high oxygen content in the atmosphere. We couldn't survive if sent back to that period.

Earth can live without us, which is why we need to attempt to keep earth in a state that suits us best.

There are daily detailed records going back thousands of years?
    >> Anonymous 02/11/10(Thu)23:20 No.131887

There's more evidence of the climate of the past than there is of things in the Bible actually happening

and you think we can control an entire planets climate? We can barely feed ourselfs, wishful thinking much?

Evidence or concrete figures. I know there's evidence in writings and such and geological records but every day detailed accounts?
