    The officers cheated death by millimetres when the bullet pierced the front door of an Adelaide home they were called to at 5.30am.

    He asked that they remove a woman he claimed was causing a disturbance inside the home.

    But when they arrived at the front door, they were instead blasted with an M16 assault rifle and the bullet ricocheted off the closed screen door.

    By any means it is NOT high-powered. Besides, civilian versions are semi-automatic, disabling burst/automatic fire pretty much disables the "assault" thing too, if you ask me.

    My brother is a cop in that area and knows the guys that were shot. There's apparently some facts wrong in the story. The cops were shot at through a mesh screen door with a shotgun of some kind. The screen door helped to disperse the buckshot and probably saved the cops lives. The guy who got hit in the face had some buckshot just above his eye, but after some surgery he was discharged from hospital that same day.
    The dude then climbed on to his roof after the cops withdrew, and this time had some kind of rifle resembling an M16. After some negotiations, STAR force talked the guy down, and then beat the piss out of him (for shooting cops, what do you expect?)
