What's it like to fall of your bike? I have just started riding again, and know it's going to happen eventually, and I like to go fast. Any personal stories? Is it more horrible than I can imagine?

I hit a pothole in an intersection on a road bike once. No matter what, you always fly head first toward the ground. I'm a parkour-fag, so I pretty much just landed it like a dive roll and was okay until the van coming from the other direction hit me.

I pull out of a junction and a guy who was doing 50 down a 30 zone hits into the side of me and ends up running my left arm and leg over. I wake up in hospital 2 days later with a fractured skull and broken left arm and left leg, fractured ribs and a broken pelvis.

Got some nice money which I gave 1/2 to fitting mirrors around that bloody junction and used the other half to buy a VW Golf 1.4L.

Since I was in a coma for quite a while I didn't have any serious pain but I did have a general ache pain for about 3 months or so which included things from trouble breathing right up to me close to tears because of pain on my left side.

I'm now all well and healthy and still go cycling daily =)

The outer shell keeps the polystyrene from exploding on first contact and it is important. Also people used to overlook cooling, but most modern helmets have ample vents in them these days.

i got a fox flux, is a good mid-range XC helmet. i bought it for its extra rear head protection.

its kinda heavy, but it breathes very well and fits my head perfectly.

oh god i just endo'd 2 days ago. I was on a weird down hill burm and I took it too sharp and for some reason i applied the front break. Somehow I landed with a slight scratch on my hip and my bike on top of me, but otherwise I was fine

So what happened to super sonic transportation? It was supposed to be the future.

    Too early?

Same thing can and has been said about almost every large scale human thing, shipping, conventional airlines, high speed rail, tall buildings, inner city expressways, this list can go on.

Oh but guess what! It all works fine. Ussally you are more safe in these so called dangerous things because much more effort is placed in making them safer than their smaller/slower/open alternatives.

If it were a serious, severe issue(sonic booms), you could bet that the FAA would just draw up a new reg. The FAA could easily forbid supersonic cruise below flight level(18,000ft)

Supersonic transportation was/is, by and large, impractical from both an operation POV and economically.

The new trend is to sustain current travel speeds, provide more comfort, carry more passengers/cargo, and do it further on less fuel. Would be a solid time to major in engineering and head over to GE...fuckin' dream job.

    Hey /n/

I purchased this bike frame for $40, friend I was with said it was worth it and that he'd help me fix it up. Was this a good deal? I think having to get wheels may end up being more expensive than the frame...
