personal stance on pie plates is that if they're clear plastic on the
rear wheel, leave them on. If they're the chromed kind or on the crank,
take em off.
The odds of having a catastrophic derailer
destruction/failure are extremely low, but it can happen and if does,
your limit screws may not keep the chain in place, a little bit of
plastic weighs next to nothing, isn't particularly noticeable
aesthetically, and is cheap insurance for your drive-side spokes. |
