I want to race on my states road bike team next season. Since I'm pretty serious about doing this, I'm going to do it right. Can anyone point out some useful books for training properly to prepare to race?(Here, have a Velomobile!)
You've never raced before, I take it? I've only been racing 2 seasons, so I'm not sure what you mean by your "state's road bike team"; do you mean a college team?Get a cycling coach, especially if you're new to the sport.
Well even I watch if from time to time though now I find it pretty boring with recent changes.I like the strategy that comes with running a car almost all out for such a long distance and time. Tires, driver fatigue, fuel, etcI also really enjoyed how they used to be carbureted until very recently because of all the strategy that required due to lolvaporlock. New NASCAR is honestly shit though, not going back to it's proper roots of actually stock cars. Old stock car racing actually reflected on the production automotive world, mostly in sales but also in design. "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday".As for answering your other question... I can't help there.
no that's bullshit i bought my monte carlo "intimidator" edition because that is exactly the car that dale earnhardt drove on the track
People watch NASCAR because they are poor and stupid.
>>309343people who make stereotypical comments about NASCAR fans are typically the stupid ones.NASCAR fans are proper motorsport fans considerably more hardcore than the people you see at sports car races. they will literally know every single stat for every single race in the seasonas for behaving like rednecks at the track - if you see a problem with this, youve obviously never been to a race before. it doesnt matter if its NASCAR or le mans when you go to the track, its always a party>>309284yeah, it would be nice to actually have stock cars racing but to be honest, think about how absolutley boring it would be to watch a modern stock car with an IRS toodle around daytona for 500 miles... with low amounts of power, a good amount of modern grip and an IRS you could go to almost any racetrack on the schedule and be able to turn laps by literally just leaving your foot buried in the floor.
>>309345People that derive excitement from watching cars go left for four hours aren't very bright. And the average fan makes $43280 annually.>Implying they aren't stupid and poor.
>People that derive excitement from watching cars go leftthe ameican le mans series has a race for 2 hours and 45 minutes at lime rock park every year, that is all right turns except one corner. looking trough the average alms paddock, you see a large number of fans owning corvettes, porsches and ferraris, no doubt meaning their income is considerably higher than $40,000 per year. whats your point?
>>309350the point being that lime rock park is FUCKING AWESOME, for those not familiar with the track.
>>309350Oh, hey, nice of you to talk about something other than NASCAR while quoting my post about NASCAR.
>>309351but you are saying that watching cars go around in one driection all the time is boring and gay. lime rock is pretty much all right handersmy point is that be it circles, ovals, or going both ways, a race is a race. its snobbish at best and ignorant at worst to shit on NASCAR because they race on ovals.
>>309353Now you bitch out someone who is defending you? NASCAR fans sure are smart.
>>309353i find that most of the people who shit on NASCAR have never actually watched a NASCAR race or have bothered to learn the intricacies of oval racing. they also fail to realize that every race on the calender is actually an endurance race, many being 400+ miles so they have all the same strategies that make endurance racing so awesome.but no, NASCAR must be shit, because everyone says so and im too lame to be able to make arguments other than "hurr durr left"
>>309354no i agree that lime rock is awesome, i was just trying to emphasize the point i mentioned earlier.
>>309338Oh GOD.You bought one of those...?That is one of the many factors ruining Nascar...
>>309355I have watched a few races, and I simply cant find any enjoyment out of watching other people do boring shit.
>>309358i enjoy it partially for the same reason i enjoy watching all other forms of endurance racing. the endurance strategy. though shorter sprint races could also be nice.its far from perfect i have to say, but its still a fun way to kill a sunday afternoon.
>>309355>~2 miles of track>going in one direction>400+ milesBoring. Shit.Whoop de do he can sit down in a box for 4 hours with ac in his helmet going a speed limited <190 mph. Big fucking deal.
>>309357no, i was making a joke about the people who did seriously you'd have to be fucking retarded to buy a recent monte carlo of any sort, let alone an intimidator version that said, pic unrelated - that shit is fucking tight
>>309360i dont think you fully understand the g-forces involved in automobile racing.you are constantly trying to be ejected out of the right hand side of the car because of the g-foces and i can only imagine how excrutiatingly painful it is in your right shoulder and arm to constantly have to turn left.
>>309360ac?you're funny. they don't have air conditioning in nascar because it weighs down the car too much.what they have is a hose that hooks up to their helmet and blows "cooler" air on their head, and thats only sometimes. they have to turn it off if their car is overheating because the car needs the fans more than them.driving in nascar is like playing russian roulette
For the crashes, DUHHHH.
>>309345>they will literally know every single stat for every single race in the seasonthats called autismor boredomyou find people like that in all sportsautomotive and humanand watching trains and airplanesalldaylongbecause they have autism
>>310468Is having a passion for an activity really called autism these days?
>>310468There is a difference between "an enthusiast", "a fanatic", and "someone suffering from autism". I suggest you learn it, because tossing the word "autism" around makes you sound like some underage b&; you're not an underage b&, are you?
>>309064We've already had this thread a couple weeks back, and I already suggested two books that would help, as well as recommending that you contact a cycling coach if you're really serious."Base Building for Cyclists", Thomas Chapple"Cyclists Training Bible", Joe FrielTry not to forget this time, k?
