what's so bad about wearing normal clothes and riding bikes? Whenever it comes up in conversation here you guys treat it like it's the plague.

Nothing's wrong with it. But try commuting everyday with a regular tshirt. I sweat so much!

This, there's nothing wrong with riding in normal clothes. But if you're going for a long ride, those fancy cycling garments are great. Whether they're good for commuting or not depends on how long your commute is. I live only four miles from work and for that kind of distance it doesn't matter at all what I wear.

if you actually use a bicycle as transportation, you won't have time to put on some gay outfit before you go somewhere, and then take it off after you get there.

I live in Arizona and only have a bike to get around. I don't sweat when I bike anywhere. If you sweat or even get out of breath for more than a few seconds after you get off your bike you probably don't bike often and are an out of shape fatass.

You're full of shit. Sweat is natural now matter how good of shape your in, it's your body's way of increasing thermal conductivity to cool itself. If you're not sweating at all there's something wrong with you and you need to see a doctor.

Sweating when you're doing something active is a sign of good health.

However, if you're one of those people that ride RIDICULOUSLY slow, that isn't really active you're more or less just sitting.

It's Arizona. Zero humidity. Sweating is unfamiliar to him because it vaporizes the instant it leaves his pores and contacts the hot, dry Arizona air.

I usually get sweaty and out of breath when I ride my bike. It's not because I'm an out of shape fatass that doesn't ride a bike very often, it's because I usually commute 13km by bike and I do it as fast as I can.

Don't expect everyone else to only take 2km rides at a leisurely pace just because you do.

Yeah, I sweat while riding my bike but the lycra wicks it pretty fast cause I'm moving. As soon as I stop moving is when I start getting super sweaty. I guess I'm just really fit, cause this only started happening once I started hard road training.

Nothing wrong. But if I am on my racebike I wear full lycra (thermo when it's cold), an expensive lightweight helmet and I wear an Oakley M-Frame which cost more then the average /n/ fixie. It's because of the sweat, it keeps you warm/cool and its comfortable for riding long distances.
