Waterfront Streetcars, it operated five W2-class Trams from Melbourne.
It was shut down in 2005 so they could demolish the stabling yard to make way for a sculpture park for Microsoft executives & yuppies!
But its your own fault really. Seattle ought to have a widespread streetcar, not one route thats more for tourists than anything else. Or that LINK thing thats trying to be a train on the cheap.

Of course... I was just being momentarily exaggerated. But still, interactions between light rail, surface trains, underground trains and satellite bus services are pure gold. Throw in bike lanes and safety side roads, and you get... well, you get Berlin.

Just kidding - the Tram in Berlin is not that great, comprising only a specific part of the city, the S- and U-Bahn are the main players there. In cities like Köln and München, the tram is far better. Nobody take buses at all, unless there is some kind of service detour going on.

berlin really ought to (slowly) expand their tram into the western part of the city because the s-bahn won't be doing anything for at least a decade

trams which also run underground in some areas is a nice concept, and cologne has a good network (barring the city archive collapse courtesy of the subway expansion of course)
bielefeld has such a network as well and it works like a charm (pic related)

The Ruhr network is actually, (opposed to systems in e.g. Köln-Bonn, Kassel, Rhein-Neckar or Karlsruhe, which do change from tram to train) only a tram system, including interurban and underground lines.

Which makes it somewhat famous for allowing very long tram rides, e.g. from Krefeld to Witten, the shortest connection only using trams is 102 kilometers and takes over 4 hours.

This website is about one of these tours, it's in German though

Hmmm has nobody posted the Luas yet? Meh, crime is rampant on this thing. Enjoy seeing junkies shoot up into their toes.

The setup seems pretty nice. Shame to know it's that decadent, though.

This reminds me, when I was in München last month, I overheard a conversation between two homeless people, and one of them (an old lady) said that she slept in the tram! Someone later told me that the trams at night are particularly thug-laden.

Yah I have never ridden the Luas without seeing some sort of crime or fucktarded act. 3pm in the day, luas driving along, like 5 chav kids start banging on the sides of the windows. Almost breaking them.

I saw a guy being caught schwarzfahren in Stuttgart. He actually managed to get off the tram, but there were three controllers on him. He then tried to jump over a metal fence, but one of the guys got him by the backpack! The Germans, so unaccustomed to this kind of "brutality", were a bit shocked. They should see what is police behavior in the USA or Brazil.
