are you in L.A. by any chance? with those double-buses connected by a little accordion thing?
I fucking hate those, they make huge potholes

poor street maintenance makes potholes, not the vehicles commissioned to run on it

buses are about as heavy as large trucks and typically run many times a hour over any single spot, hilariously often where lines are bundled. those streets must be built to highway standard at the very least.

Why do modern corporations have to come up with daft-sounding job titles.
Apparently in the Royal Navy a chef is now a "logistician (catering services (preparation))"

In my day a chef was a chef, a bus driver was a bus driver and a plumber was a plumber.
Why make up convoluted titles when the English language already has perfectly good words.

What's the point of making a federal case over a $2.50 fare?
That's why most of us don't care if you use an old transfer.
It makes you a thief really, and that's something you can live with.

Do you not have random controls on the bus with security guards and whatnot?

do you have a fat pension and a labor contract that incentivizes absenteeism, like MUNI in san francisco?

Will you please kick ass on a political canvaser for me? I hate it when those fuckers try to get signatures on public transit.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)19:49 No.178745
Do you work for the CTA? If so, do you work on the El or a bus? If that's the case you can tell us, the Amalgamated Transit Union has your back.

CTA tried to get me to work as a K9 Officer, I was interested until they told me my pay would be cut if I couldn't house and feed the dog, which is foolish in Chicago where it's almost all apartments/rentals and the landlords forbid dogs or make you pay an extra fee.

Anyway, the fucking dogs do nothing. Almost everyone thinks they're for bomb or narcotics detection, but in reality all of the K-9's the CTA security forces use are strictly for intimidation and "deterrence". Plus Muslims are scared of dogs.

    It's called an articulated bus.

In my last job, over the course of two years, they changed the titles of Secretary to Administrative Assistant, to Executive Assistants, to Business Partners.
