09/18/09(Fri)10:05 No.5093603>>5093438 Very mediocre.
Way
too repetitive; hearing the same two or three riffs over and over is
VERY boring, and it lasts for almost 1/2 your song until you get to
this very wonky groove section.
Your sound is all fucked up
too. For the type of metal you're doing, you want the drums to actually
be forceful and audible. Did you listen to your drummer's bass? Those
were the dullest bass beats I've -ever- heard in metal. He's also
pretty weak in that most of his beats are relatively basic. Not simple,
just basic.
Actually, that whole song is riddled with basic.
Generic riffs, generic beats, generic solos, and fairly generic vocals.
I also don't really care for the style you're going for, the metalcore
/ groove thing HAS to go, or else you're setting yourself up for
massive shit on every end of the spectrum.
My advice?
Practice, and a shift in style would benefit you greatly. Metal lacks
really good, traditional heavy metal bands these days. I'm not talking
about Maiden or Priest worship, but there have been fewer and fewer
bands since 1990 that have tried to deliver equal or greater amounts of
badass. It's like everyone gave up after the NWOBHM of the 80's, which
is total bullshit. |
