never seen that record, must be 21st century crap rehashing so many years of existence, it is sad that at 1996 all genres were invented. and then little asspie kids decided to make up genres on the internets.

Genuinely boring album. I can see trolling with it, but liking it? That's absurd. Metallica has more ideas than this band, and they just rehashed Mqster of Puppet into radio rock and called it Death Magnetic. (Not that the album didn't suck, because it did.)

I'm not sure yet, but I think the narrator is singing to a friend/lover who has betrayed him. I haven't managed to work the whole thing out yet. Then it changes in the middle to be an Anne Frank reference, and finally just something I can't figure out at all.

Protip: The "two-headed boy" is a recurring character inspired by the brother of one of Mangum's friends who committed suicide. Both "Two-Headed Boy" tracks are dedicated to him, and he's also mentioned as the "dark brother" in "Holland, 1945."

    "
And now we ride the circus wheel
With your dark brother wrapped in white
Says it was good to be alive
But now he rides a comet's flame
And won't be coming back again
The Earth looks better from a star
That's right above from where you are
He didn't mean to make you cry
With sparks that ring and bullets fly
On empty rings around your heart
The world just screams and falls apart"

That verse is all grieving the suicide, as is the entirety of "Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2."

What I like about it is how it isn't all explicit and stupid like Hospice. You can't find the pathos unless you dig for it, but it's there in spades.
