    Sup /mu/

I need some suggestions for great female singers in any genre besides screamy loud metal.

Most any genre will be good, but I'm looking for stuff that is more indie since I've already got most of the more well known female artists. Also more ambient works would also be great

In return A Yoko Kanno CD that isn't an animu soundtrack

I'll repost some suggestions I put in a thread where someone was looking for similar artists to Emilie Simon (which by itself works as a suggestion for this thread, as she seemed pretty enjoyable):

    Emiliana Torrini
    http://rapidshare.com/files/227335745/Emiliana_Torrini.-.Fisherman_s_Woman__2005_.rar.html

    Ane Brun
(I can share Changing of the Seasons if you'd like)

    Imogen Heap
(don't have any of her records, but she's very good)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25VGdNU3nrU

    Hanne Hukkelberg
    http://rapidshare.com/files/250840515/HH_-_Blood_from_a_Stone__2009__mp3.rar

    Grouper
    http://rapidshare.com/files/178759959/Grouper.rar

My favorites are Ane Brun and Grouper. I think if you're looking for "ambient" you'd best seek out Grouper (drone folk) and Imogen Heap (Kate Bush-esque pop) in earnest. Hanne Hukkelberg is like a very good-tier version of Bjork.

I have a lot of enthusiasm for female singers and songwriters.
