Synesthete fag here.
I have hyper entented synesthesia, all of my senses, tough, sound, smell, taste all show colour.
Everyone's synesthetic experiences are different, for me it looks like a cloud or a pile of flower that I see for as long as the stimuli is active.
The problems involved are that often an instrument you like is an ugly colour, or a food's physical colour is different from it's syni-colour.
Also sensory overload, but I'm not getting into that.

It's caused by connections between two parts of the brain in a way that they normally aren't in the average person. Most describe it as certain sounds and notes cast a colour over they're vision but it's different for all synesthetes.

I am also a synesthete but unlike >>4951700 only my hearing and vision are affected, sensory overload is a problem and being in loud/noisy situations can be tough.

Isaac Newton actually spent more time on this than anything else in his career. He thought that sound and colour were intrinsically related - there are 8 basic colour tones and 8 tones in an octave, etc.
