Hey /mu/, I was the guy that asked for what MF Doom albums to start out with the other day, thank you for your suggestions, Madvillainy is great. Now I wanna get into this guy (Del the Funky Homosapien) a bit more, could you guys recommend his best albums?
    >> Vic 12/22/11(Thu)14:25 No.21688289
Madvillainy is often cited as his best album, but once the discussion gets going there's always someone who names every record as his best.

    Essential albums:

MF DOOM - OPERATION DOOMSDAY (1999)
doom had worked as zev love x in the 90s with the group kmd with his brother. brother died, group was dropped, and doom went indie and reinvented himself as mf doom. this was his debut release.

    MADVILLAIN - MADVILLAINY (2004)
doom with the raps, madlib on the beats. arguably the best "underground" rap album of the past ten years. this album does the opposite of every rap formula: no hooks, no stupid 'obvious' lyrics about typical themes, no clean big radio beats, etc.

    other key albums:
KING GEEDORAH - TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER (2003)
VICTOR VAUGHN - VAUDVILLE VILLAIN (2003)
MF DOOM - MM FOOD (2005)
    DANGERDOOM - MASK & THE MOUSE (2006)
MF DOOM - BORN LIKE THIS (2009)

Deltron 3030 is p. much his best album, his solo work doesn't quite match up but I Wish My Brother George Was Here is considered a good album

do you actually say that in real life? i don't think i'd be able to respect someone as a person if i heard them actually shorten pretty much to "p. much"

I Wish My Brother George Was Here is a great Del record. One of the funkiest hip hop records ever.

Everyone will tell you Deltron 3030...and there's a reason for that..pick it up.
