Honestly, I don't know and I'm quite interested to see what they do. There is a 66-minute thing in the works and season 4 is practically confirmed, so I know there will be more afterward. Why is this even an issue? I see Twilight becoming an alicorn as her ending to one phase of her journey in which her new found growth opens up new story opportunities in future episodes.
She'll have new responsibilities and challenges that she tackles with the help of her friends. This isn't a jumping the shark moment in my opinion.

I doubt it would change the dynamic of the show, though: the writers have been on board since the beginning. I don't think they'd want the other main (not mane, goddamnit) 6 being put out of the picture. That's like having Finn becoming a prince and suddenly there's no Jake anymore. They're all secondary protagonists, MAIN CHARACTERS.

GRANTED - and this is only conjecture - Hasbro could've forced the change, but they probably might leave if they felt it were a bad change, as they could probably find work elsewhere (they've had this under their hat for 6 months, plenty of time for new jobs to be found). I dunno. Wait and see.
