02/29/12(Wed)10:11 No.298473>>298055 hence
why i personally didnt like derpy's original portrayal. lets just say
she's mentally handicapped for a minute. So you got this handicapped
pony trying her damnedest and she's just depicted, to the children
watching the show, as someone who fucks everything up and the only
reaction she receives is anger(from dash in this instance).
Now, i
can't say I agree with how far the scene was changed. I do think the
original voice might've been a little too "caricature" as some people
have put it. I had no issue with the wall-eyed expression, and idgaf
about her name. But I did like that in the changed scene, she was
treated a little more fairly by dash regarding Derpy's disability. Keep
in mind that Dash also has been noted to take it easy on Fluttershy due
to her sensitivity, so it'd make sense for Dash to not be a total bitch
to someone who was mentally disabled.
I think Hasbro should have
gone with an inbetween; Sure, Derpy fucks shit up sometimes, is
wall-eyed and such, but she tries her best and she shouldn't be treated
with disdain, as Dash did in the original version of the clip. Kids
would see someone who might've been mentally handicapped and taken the
cue from dash to be angry at Derpy, and real world people like Derpy. I
at least like that in the change, kids would take the cue to be patient
with those who are a little slower. |
