That's like saying the cost of an F-22, +/- technology development costs, should justify accepting something of lesser quality.
They're
already doing their best to minmax cost/profit as is, and from what
I've heard this had led to chronic underpaying as the higherups used to
see shows succeed on abysmal budgets and start thinking "hey they got it
to work with fewer funds, we can too!"
What they want is for a return on their expenses.
Of
course, whether or not $40 for 3 episodes of an x-cour series is worth
it to you is dependent on a few other factors like ability to pay and
whatnot, but in an ideal world it's not just you but a bunch of people
paying that price.
Which goes to the stores to buy more anime
based on what's actually moving units, which goes to whoever's
responsible for distribution, which goes to whoever was responsible for
producing/funding the studio for production to help recoup on the budget
they allocated for covering the expenses of making the show.
Or, TL/DR:
Someone's gotta pay.
Otherwise you get an anime recession. |
