Funnily enough, I enjoyed Plus the least, though that's hardly terrible criticism. Beautiful dogfights and Yoko Kanno's instrumental are great, but I'm not too fond of Sharon Apple and all of Plus' characters made me want to toss my computer out the window.

OK I've been through the whole script line by line, fixed quite a few lines that sounded stupid in English, made 2 countdowns better (9 7 6 5 etc were on the same line.)
...and commented out all the romanji/kanji lyrics that were in the top left.

I also found some of the song lyrics were not set to the right typeface, causing them not to show up at all. I fixed these and now you get "Dollars how much fake" instead of "$How much fake" ... which was also set wrong.

The fightscenes in this movie were far too sparse and what was not recycled from the TV series was short and crappy. They didn't even use the best song from the TV series.

It's interesting this movie. On the one hand they really dug deep into the conspiracy aspect of the series, culminating in Sheryl hiring SMS to rescue Galaxy whereas Frontier hushed the incident. On the other hand, despite the changes in who knew who at what time, the character's seemed to be mostly the same as depicted in-series. There's some pacing issues, of course, but there's nice throwbacks too, such as the MMJenius formation and the mentions of fire bomber and sharon apple, not to mention, finally getting to see Battle Frontier fire its Macross Cannon from battroid mode.

From a /m/ standpoint, it was also nice to see a greater variety of Vajra ships (it was a bit jarring in the series to see the little yellow ones, the red ones, and then suddenly jump up in size to the cruiser ships). Here we've got destroyers and battlecruisers and that mantis thingy in the mix.

Storywise I think the movie tried to pull off what didn't go over so well in the series: the fact that long periods of time pass between Vajra attacks, and really eschewing lolhighschoolhijinks to show that Alto really spent great effort and time training at SMS and that Ranka did the same with her singing career.

Anyone got the picture of Sheryl's Huge ass? The one where it looks like shes a giant?

Thank you! Overall I thought it was much better than the TV series, maybe because the important plot points weren't spread over several weeks.

My only complaint is in the end it seemed to paint Grace in an a good light, as if she had seen the error of her ways and had Sheryl sing for good rather than evil, but I assume her true evil is being saved for the 2nd movie.

No Infinity was kind of a let down, but Lion kicking in for the climax and the Macross Attack will have to do.
