    Book Burning?

    Anyone ever done it?
    >> Anonymous 06/19/10(Sat)21:49 No.808561
I'd rather trade it in for a buck at my used book store.

No, why the hell would you do something so retarded
    >> Anonymous 06/19/10(Sat)21:52 No.808573
no, it achieves nothing at all unless you were in a survival situation then you would be able to use the paper and match's and make prison matches or candles or campfires or blow some gas tanks up.

    burning a book is pointless.

It's not only pointless, it puts you on level with the scumbags that agree with censorship.

It is not your right to decide what others should read or think. Everyone has a responsibility for their own intellectual growth.

I burned the Book of Mormon once.

It didn't burn completely and I buried it in the garden. Later we sold that house to my high school english teacher, who was a Mormon.

Someday he's gonna do some gardening and decide he likes me less than he thought he did. He was quite a large man so I think i might skip my ten year reunion.

I burned the bible once, but only because I was camping, had been given it earlier that day by some guy on a street corner, and it was the only paper I had.
    >> Anonymous 06/19/10(Sat)22:17 No.808655
I burned a bible once, it was one of those small passport sized orange ones given out by some guy outside my school. I was 11-12 at the time and I thought it was cool

I would have used the genealogy chapters from Genesis, Exodus and Deuteronomy or something. I kind of liked reading the Psalms when I was a kid.
    >> Anonymous 06/19/10(Sat)22:22 No.808668
    >>808663
yeah, the psalms have actual literary value. why wouldn't you use one of the pages of "mohab begat zechamiel begat pharasee begat ishmael begat sperglordz" or the rules about eating lizards? you can always read the psalms for poetic enjoyment.

That only applies if you're burning other peoples books you retard.

If you've bought a book, hated it and burned it becuase you dont want it anymore, then what the fuck is wrong with burning it.

I see no difference in burning a book than there is burning a chair.

this thread is now a favorite part of the bible.

for the old testament, I like psalms and Ecclesiastes.

for the new testament, I'm torn between luke and john.

The problem with burning a copy of Twilight is that fucking Meyers gets the royalties no matter what you do with it. For this to be effective you need to a: burn down a bookstore or b: burn down her house. Since burning down a bookstore would make casualties of much worthier books I recommend going with b.

um, it's stupid to burn a chair as well. put that shit on the curb and let someone pick it up, or take it to goodwill. why are you so ready to burn things. like killing animals and wetting the bed as well?

the revelations is always fun for a peek at judaic post apocalpticism. im also a big fan of first corinthians.

psalms and proverbs are the only redeeming books of the OT imo.

I have burnt a couple of books as a young teen when my family didn't have heat during the winter, I had a fireplace in my room so my room was colder than the rest of the house even when it was closed so I needed warmth.

I work at a library now, we throw out numerous book donations that are outdated or look dusty and we also discard many books that aren't taken out often. We weed out these books about everyother month per section.
    >> Anonymous 06/19/10(Sat)23:22 No.808940
My dad once threw away a book I'd bought because he thought it brought him bad luck.
It was an egyptian book from the 1800's written in arabic, about the ancient egyptians.

    Why you mad?
Ive always felt this way about this book. Therefore, I didn't hop on any wagon whatsoever, Twilight enthusiast.

People are embracing this novel as if it were apart of the Dead Sea Scrolls, or God's gift to literature. So many good books out there and people pick this one. What the hell is there to learn from this trash? Oh i know, how not to write a book.

Your self righteousness is laughable. I suspect your going to conjure up some weak rebuttal on why its important to leave this book alone.

Why do you care what things i have to say about this book? Get out.
