    This is embarrassing.

These are the bookshelfs of /lit/?

At work now, but I have 3 bookcases of books at home, all read, and a half shelf under my bedside table of TBR.

Back to /sp/. /lit/ confirmed for non literate children.

lol there are too many comics underneath and they kept falling off each end. I put the 2 biggest and heaviest, Absolute Authority & LoEG at each end but they still would all lean and fall off. So I moved those two to the front out the way as they were the heaviest, stacked a bunch at the left to hold the straight and put Asterix & Tin Tin on the far right as the lightest.

This seems to have temporarily improved the situation :)

The sideboard was a bargain, £160 down from £350 in a closing down sale. Its repro but who cares, it looks great.

History, non-fic & fiction makes up most of my reading :) As to Gemmell, he lived about 10 miles away from me and I have 2 signed copies, White Wolf & Ravenheart really sad when he died.

Currently reading Lustrum by Robert Harris, I can thoroughly recommend it for history, esp Roman, loving /lits.

I am not working tomorrow so I might put a history fic /lit jpg together.

Hey, I'm not omniscient, and at the time I made that list (first week of /lit/) there wasn't much conversation about historical fiction at all, so no pooling of thoughts.

Actually, there isn't much currently either. It's a bit odd, given how many people in yesterday's personal details thread listed hf as a genre they read, but what are you going to do. Not that I'm pointing blame or anything, I stopped doing threads about in February.

Hey, at least your trying ^^
Is it a translation of Moliere's works in an antiqua typeset or Fraktur?
Even I as a German find reading Fraktur hard to get used to. If it's a really old translation, then this is probably not a good book to train your skills, because older german is usually stilistically different from modern german and I'd even go so far to say, that it's a bit more inflected than modern german...
My first english novel was 1984, a good choice probably, since orwell tried to keep it simple.
I wish there was a german author with a similar style, but Brecht is the only one who comes to my mind and learners of german have told me that he's hard to read...

The first legitimately good bookshelf I've seen on /lit/.

Also, crossing your sock-wearing feet makes you seem like a casual dude.

Yes, there's such a thing as edition elitism. I don't make the centerpiece of my library a faux-antique chain production.

    1. I could not supply you pictures because I am currently in a college dorm, not at my permanent residence where the Irving and the rest of the bulk of my holdings reside.

    2. You incorrectly assert a first edition set of Irving is cost-prohibitive. They aren't they range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand per book. But luckily for me, it doesn't matter. They were inherited.
