you are suggesting that Starship Troopers is an endorsement of fascism,
then you would be dead wrong.
Read the Book, or even just the
Wikipedia article.
Heinlein's society is governed in the manner
of a liberal democracy with one important distinction. Starship
Troopers' "Federation" practices a selective franchise instead of the
nonselective franchise which is practiced throughout much of the "free
world."
Heinlein's reccuring theme throughout the book is that
social responsibility requires being prepared to make individual
sacrifice.
Also, the book lacks the Triumphalist tennor commonly
associated with Fascism. |
