    >Finish lectures and go to university library.
    >Plan to find Norwegian Wood so I can read it this weekend.
    >Trek through the extensive Japanese section and grab the first thing that reads 'Norwegian Wood' in English.
    >Go home and realise it's the second volume, commencing with chapter six.

Has Norwegian Wood even been published in two volumes in English?

For some reason, the edition at my library is like that. Smaller-sized book, and you can tell by the worn cover that it's an older edition.

Oddly, for a book I don't really like, I have the two different translations and editions for Norwegian Wood.

Give it up, OP! Read something better!

Meh, I've constantly heard good things about the author and people have recommended the book to me several times. So I'm eager to give it a go. I need something fresh to read after churning out Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl.

How about I try and nudge you towards reading Dance Dance Dance or Sputnik Sweetheart, the two very good novels I think Murakami has written?

Noted! I'll be sure to check them out.

I've heard that some of his works border on the supernatural and surreal.

Yeah, and if normality is what you're after then NW is the best place to start.
