  • /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/and a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in about a week (the checker is taking a while).
UPDATE: Now you can search *by board* on /rs/. Check it out!
Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

17 KB I want to read it... Anonymous 03/03/10(Wed)18:13 No.374450
But I heard it's over a thousand pages long.

Only heard about it because of the obvious hype from what's going on in the economy and the big-government climate here in America right now.

    Anyone read it?
    >> Anonymous 03/03/10(Wed)18:16 No.374471
    1. read about Rand's philosophy
    2. if you agree/can tolerate it go ahead
    3. if you can't steer clear because it will suck so much
    >> Anonymous 03/03/10(Wed)18:20 No.374490
If you absolutely must read Rand, read the Fountainhead, for God's sake.

From what i do know i think i would agree with the majority of her philosophy of Objectivism.

I am definitely a big believer in the power of the free market and the fact that we owe every luxury we enjoy, from this website we use to the life saving oral chemo a cancer patient takes to profit-driven or "selfish" incentives.

I think in the end it's not as simple as that, if you are trying to come up with a philosophy of all life.
    >> Anonymous 03/03/10(Wed)18:41 No.374614
Atlas Shrugged really isn't her best book unless you already have a real hardon for objectivism.
    >> Anonymous 03/03/10(Wed)19:06 No.374759
Even disregarding her idiotic philosophical/ political views (which mainly originate from butt hurt over her rich fucking effeet factory owning family having to flee Russia during the revolution), her work is really bad. Its boring, contrived and not worth the wrist strain of having to hold the massive pile of shit while you read it.

Easy for rich people from 1st world countryes to think like this, do you realize that it's not just your freedom involved in this process, there are people in other countryes that have to actually work, just so you can choose what will you use your freedom for.
Think about this for a second, to support one american, and all his freedom, the things you take for granted, you need at least 5 people from other countryes working hard and getting paid close to shit just so your side of the free market can sell you cheap things so you don't have to toil just to get food.
you might not be American, but anyway the point stands, this "freedom" is supported by 3rd world slaves who do not have the choice to give themselves the luxury you think you owe yourself.
I don't know if I made a clear comment, I'm sleepy, but I think you can see the hole in objectivism if you realize the entire world it preaches only works for a minor elite supported by imperialism on poorer nations, and they can't be objectivists.

The Randian hero is a joke. Our advancement owes itself to the work of "parasites".
It is an elite minority of the elite minority that got there by the sweat of his brow. And HE probably doesn't even work in a field that greatly benefits us collectively.

Well I'm an economist, so I think I know pretty well what economy is, It's predatory kid, get over yourself.
1st world consumes the rest of the world, we harvest we manufacture and sell it to you at a cheap price, we get paid less, and we are denied the ability to become better because your selfishness sees it as all right, just some plays in the game, nothing wrong with raping others to get profit.
And kid, learn your economics, we produce a certain amount of everything in the world, 1st world countryes consume almost everything, it is a zero-sum game. you just have monetary blindness.

China should , by rights consume more, just from the numbers. And when they succeed in taking the vitamin water out of your sniveling shit mouth I will be laughing like a chinaman

China should indeed consume more, did you not pay attention to my post? It also produces way more than it should, just to satisfy the rest of the world. And does not get what it should, only now they are thinking of letting china become part of the little ruling group that fucks the rest of the world over.

    >EVERYONE deserves to live as the first-world does.

It would ruin our shit if India and China consumed that much. We should kill 90% of both and start over.
