The first book is flawless, imo.The next two books were kind of disappointing to me, though.
Was going to make a new thread but duplicate file entry detected.Have read Battle Royale before and liked it, is this just that but with more action and less philosophy?I can't really imagine a YA novel actually being all that intellectually stimulating.

Really? This book was shit. Only bad thing that happens to the main character is that she is forced into the games, but then she's proficient at hunting, using a bow, building shelter, finding water, healing wounds, I can go on forever. She is goddam Bear Grylls in a 14 year old girls body. Forced symbolism. The book explicitly states something along the lines of "Oh these birds remind me of my dead dad and gives me the strength to live." The whole idea of "sponsors" = deus ex machina Rue getting randomly killed off because the author probably couldn't think of a way to have Katniss kill her. AND not only does Katniss win the game, despite all odds, she also manages to win with Peeta alive!Fuck this shit book.
