ITT: Your favorite book as a childPic VERY related
The hobbit, naturally. It had that cozy feeling throughout (I know I sound gay)What was Enders Game even about?
>>202836It's about a grim future where 12 year olds speak and act like 40 year olds.
>>202836Same here, I think it was the first true novel I read.
Unrelated, but I killed a spider with my copy of Ender's Game today. I felt bad for killing it and getting the book dirty afterwards. :(

This perfect day
>>202893Huge nostalgic moment there
Obviously.
>>202932how old are you?
Posted this earlier in another thread
Anything Roald Dahl, of course!(I loved The Hatchet too)
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet
>>202958kid got told

If we're talking really young anything with Thomas the Tank Engine in it. Getting a bit older I loved Goosebumps, moved onto Deltora Quest (ftw) then Harry Potter, then stumbled across a copy of 1984 and things were never the same again.
>>203016Oh I remember Deltora quest! They we're really popular at my elementary school.I went back to read them a year or so ago to find that they we're actually written fairly poorly. I enjoyed it immensely nonetheless.
>>203016Just wanna say Stephen King ruined any love I had for our dear friend Thomas or any other animated train.
>>203048
>>203046I hate to ruin it for you, but you know they made that series into a crappy anime?
>>203085I know this is a child hood book thread but I have to mention this. Some guy actually suggested to be that The Dark Tower series be made into an anime. No Stephen King book (let alone Dark Tower) should even be mentioned with anime. I raged.
>>203092I will kill that guys if I ever meet himThere's a good chance that he's a /b/tard
>>203092I'd rather have an anime than a bunch of movies with ten percent of the books' content.
>>203129How bout I kill you instead?/rageAlso, I want a HBO mini series.
Whoo!
>>203129You pretty much nailed what I was about to say right on the head. One of my favorite series was the Alex Rider series. The series got I movie deal, which I was happy to hear. When I saw it, I nearly cried. They has essentially re-written the story into what they thought children liked, which of course was a complete failure. You know, those types of movies with unending bathroom humor and generic bad guys? That was this.
>>203189lol at the girl on the front cover, I'm pretty sure she shows up 3 or 4 books inI agree with you on the fact that many movie producers have no idea how to appeal to children.
>>203155>HBO mini-seriesThat would obviously be ideal but I'd still say that movies are the worst possible medium for an adaptation. A cartoon/anime would have so much more room for detail.ontopic: pic related
The Hobbit is my favorite as well, OP.This thread has made me want to do some re-reading.
>>203189>>203220Agreed that movies would probably be fail. But unless the anime is done in the art style of Cowboy Bebop (the only anime i like and own) then fuck it...just keep the books untouched.
>>203247Is that supposed to be this?
>>203189That movie poster made me rage pretty hard."rule the school"
>>203284>>203270Stop trying to derail the topic of this thread
