Okay, I'm going to make an argument for Fitzgerald, who should be God tier, and simultaneously one for why Dickens should be Good tier at best.

Fitzgerald's prose is spare and perfect; each word is relevant to the whole and has an extended meaning. Dickens takes over-blown descriptiveness too far. Nothing makes me angrier than the overwhelming use of superfluous words.

That being said, it's all subjective. I didn't even open this thread; has OP justified placing Austen on 'Good' and Wilde on 'Shit,' because that is peculiar, and I would like to see his working.

To be honest, it's much less retarded than the usual tier lists on /lit/.

Anything that starts with a tier list is bound to suck. It's a bunch of pretentious, subjective bullshit where stupid-ass teenagers who'll likely never reach the success of these people (literary or otherwise) devalue their work and dismiss it with overused, categorical internet jargon like "low" or "shit" or "overrated" or "hipster" when in fact it's just not their cup of tea.

What the fuck IS a hipster anyway?

Some people claim you have to like certain music to be one.

Some people claim you have to like certain authors to be one.

Some people claim you just need to be a douchebag.

Others claim you have to look like Ellen Page or Michael Cera.

Others claim you just have to be young, social, and fond of gaining knowledge.

Others claim you have to be young, social, and fond of feigning knowledge.

Some people use it as an insult.

Some people just use it as some sweeping, generalized subcultural label.

Some use it as a compliment.

Why even bother tossing around such a word so vehemently?

Some of you are frustratingly stupid, and hypocritical, and if it's all just a big ruse and you're "trollin'", then I guess the second picture in this thread is the most related thing in the universe.

    Fuck all y'all's shit.

I don't believe OP has read much of any of this list.
Just taking into consideration the fact that Ty was claiming The Brothers Karamazov was the greatest thing ever before he'd even read it speaks volumes about the guy ("but I read a bit on my psp lol").

But anyway, trolling aside, I'll only call you out on a couple of your obviously contentious entries - Lovecraft in Average tier? You know he only ever wrote one novel, right? The quality of said novel was way below that of his short stories which, in themselves, are not very well written at all. If you're being serious then you need a full-on kick in the balls for even thinking about putting HPL on the same tier as Goethe and Hardy.
Also Wilde in shit tier? You know he's wasn't a novelist either, right? He only wrote one novel, which I'm assuming you really didn't understand. Anyway, your whole list smacks of trying to hard to appear intellectual. If you really believe Wilde, Orwell or Hemingway are shit writers then you really know nothing about literature at all.

At first I thought Ayn Rand is a Political Philosopher. I thought she was a marxist and wanted a world reverted to rural agrarianism. But it seems that her work Atlas Shrugged is about refusing to be exploited by my society and industry.

"a world in which the individual is not free to create is doomed"

Often times we hear about writers who have written great novels but did not achieve financial success in their lifetime. That's probably for the best, since artists prefer to live in their most comfortable element, to create.
