    $189

Also, it only comes with its power supply cable. You will need your own USB cable in case you want to connect the Kindle to your computer.

Damn, how does it handle PDFs? I might just break down and get a new kindle. My old one is serving me very well, but it handles PDFs like shit.

It does it fairly well. You can make annotations on and bookmark pdf pages.

You can also send the pdfs to your free kindle email address and amazon will convert them for you into a more Kindle friendly format.

It's not bad considering this is e-ink.

It uses a webkit browser, so it renders the page as close to what it is supposed to look like.

Everything is in greyscale of course, so viewing images is not great.

You can zoom in and out of the page. It also handles basic javascript.

Fuck, I think I might have to get one. I'm not keen on the sending it to my kindle address, because I remember it cost like ten cents per document.

But if it does that, shit man, I'd be happy as fuck.

Amazon offers two methods of delivery.

They give you two email accounts, yourname@kindle.com and yourname@free.kindle.com

If you email your pdfs for conversion to yourname@free.kindle.com the converted documents will be delivered to your personal email account free of charge, where you can download them to your computer and then move to your kindle.

If you send your pdfs for conversion to yourname@kindle.com , then Amazon will indeed charge you a few cents, and the documents will be delivered straight to your kindle.

honestly OP, how good is it at actually handling a book?

i tried a sony at a store and it was utter shit, when i flicked the page it all fucked up and it was wank, i need to see this new bad boy in action, in a store, is it still only available online?

I too have tested the SOny e-readers and they are absolutely terrible.

The Kindle beats it by a mile. The only downside of the Kindle is that it cannot handle the epub format, but you can use http://calibre-ebook.com/ to convert them if you have any books in that format.

The Kindle so far has been very responsive. You barely notice the e-ink flashing effect during page turns.

    Included in the box
    Kindle wireless reader
    U.S. power adapter
    (supports 100V-240V)
    USB 2.0 cable
(for connection to the Kindle power adapter or to connect to a computer.)

    From Amazon

I did not receive a USB cable. I will have to call Amazon and ask them about it.

The box it came in only had enough room for the kindle, a short version of a manual, and the power cable.
