Hey /lgbt/, what's your position on gun control?
>>
>Dat TD

someone disarm this faggot before he shoots everyone in the room

But seriously, I'm in favor of gun segregation. Certain ethnic groups prone to violent crime or terrorist sympathies (blacks, muslims, etc.) should not be armed.
>>
I'm a conventional American liberal in all respects but this one. I think it's kind of hypocritical for liberals to advocate social freedoms (gay marriage, marijuana, etc.) and then try to ban guns. I'm against gun control.
>>
>>712688 (OP)

I'm a caucasian homosexual male who is working as a lawyer at a prestigious law firm at Chicago and I'm against the gun control.

I already have dozens of handguns and some semi-automatics.

He's an airshit kid anyway.

Also gun control is special stupid, as are the ignorant people who support gun control.

Why do Americans love their guns so much? Not even the most redneck guys here have guns unless they hunt.

I'm not American, but I've been there, and guns are fun as shit. Just going out and lighting shit up is awesome.

Again, if you look at the distribution of crime in the united states, you will see that certain regions with a high concentration of certain groups are prone to violent crime and those certain groups should be disarmed.

Because we're not barbaric dune coons running around beheading each other. We, unlike other countries, are willing to stand up against our government, and are given the rights to do so, that way we aren't tested on with chemical agents.

That and we use logic and believe in the ability to defend ourselves from threats.

>>
>>713071
There are over 300,000,000 people in the U.S.
There are only so little states that try to control firearms. Don't forget the fact that the U.S. military is most likely to side with U.S. citizens before the government, because of families and friends.
>>
>>713080
Gun control only works in tandem with welfare policies.. If crime is the only option for people then they will commit no matter what
>>
>>713080

They banned the guns for everyone. If you banned a select ethnic group from owning firearms and had the ATF actually enforce that and disarm said ethnic group, we'd be better off.

Yes, let's provide social aid to people who are not making themselves useful to the economy. Because they are all special snowflakes who deserve the money of people who actually fucking work for a living. That makes perfect sense.

The laws are already strict, especially in California.
If you have a mental illness, you most likely will not be able to purchase a firearm. If you've committed even a petty crime, you shouldn't even consider buying a firearm. There are several background checks conducted.

It's our constitutional right to own guns. I own quite a few as a gay man.

The only reason people think they need a gun for self defense is because criminals have guns. The only reason criminals have access to guns is because we're producing millions of guns for the people that buy them for self defense.

If we cut the production of guns to just the 0.1% of people that actually need them (police, professionals, etc.) we cut 99.9% of the guns available to criminals, if not all because its much easier to regulate guns owned by police or professionals than any redneck that wants to buy one. Then criminals don't have guns, and we don't need guns for self defense.

Its just a circle of violence that is just escalated with the millions of guns being produced and pumped into society. A gun can only take a life, it can only "save" lives taken from other guns in the first place. Criminals can shimmy together knives, or sticks, or bats, but they can't create guns, criminals only have access to guns due to our society's demand for them, legitimate or not.

Every single person would be better off in a society with less guns. Yemen has the second highest amount of legal guns per capita in the world, second to the US, and its one of the most violent and dangerous country in the world. Many first world countries are much safer than America, all with far fewer guns per capita.

Unfortunately in the US we already have massive amounts of guns available, and a strong gun culture, it will literally take centuries to this to change.
>>
everyone should own guns. We might need them to overthrow the government
>>
>>713187
>>713173

So your justification for owning a gun is so you can break the law?
>>
>>713292

You seem to forget about renegade police, Security guards, military, and government officials in the system who will kill your for whatever reason they feel necessary, even if you're unarmed.
>>
Gun people always throw around the term "law-abiding" gun owner, yet their only opposition to a gun registry is that it would make it harder for them to break the law, in the case guns were banned (which isn't happening any time soon, and would be blocked by the judicial branch).
>>
>>713292
It's like you actually want America to go fascist.

>Criminals can shimmy together knives, or sticks, or bats, but they can't create guns
o man, how fucking dumb are you?
>>
>>713309

Its not all or nothing, if we can reduce 99.9% of guns to criminals, we should, it would eliminate the need for guns for self defense, and deescalate crime.
>>
>>713151

>Some asshole (criminal, cop, or gov official) breaking into my home without a warrant

A cop during an illegal search of your apartment doesn't warrant deadly force. You'd go to court and win, the cop likely fired / charged.

This place was created to be a confusing pain in the ass place for everyone to stimulate growth.

>>
>>713331

No, not a randian. My end goal is something more akin to Confucius's ideas of hierarchy, where people obtain happiness by feeling part of a well-oiled, functioning machine. Well-being is a simple distraction from that. People find satisfaction from productivity and servitude towards the upper classes, who in turn obtain satisfaction from running and operating a functional machine. People would not only know their place, but be happy with their place.
>>
>>713358
>A cop during an illegal search of your apartment doesn't warrant deadly force.

Feinstein's got that dick up your ass doesn't she?

Personally, OP, I think gun control is a terrible idea. Not necessarily because guns are good, or whatever, but because we should have learned from the prohibition era and drug war that banning a product is just the stupidest fucking idea a person can come up with.

If we instill strict gun control, we'll create a situation where a black market will arise, and cartels will have a new industry. Only this new cartel market will be FUCKING GUNS!

Other countries can control guns quite well, the only ones that seem to have a problem with it are third world countries and America. Also in areas where certain drugs are legal, they are very effectively regulated.
>>
>>713358

My mom was forced into an illegal search because she had a similar name to some woman a few blocks away. They had no warrant, but they broke her front door down and rampaged the place while she was not at home looking for her. All they gave my mom was an apology. My mom couldn't afford a lawyer or attorney for damages.

I don't trust the police or the way things are going. If anyone is illegally in my home or on my property regardless of if they're a cop or the President. I have a right to kill them.
>>
>>713343

So how's elementary school working out for you?

>>713349

How is the crime bad for the lower-classes? They're wiping each other out and removing the overall burden on society. Eventually the problematic areas are sealed off and the population is left to rot. After total social collapse comes in, the land is seized by a corporate force, who renovates it into something useful.
>>
>>713376
you're not actually trying to refute me though. you're trying and failing to attack my credibility. I dont even watch cable news.

As an trans person and a socialist. We need to be armed, and I'm very frank in saying it's because we may have to overthrow a tyrannical government someday. If dont think thats a possibility, you havent been paying attention to the world since 9/11.

>Revolution in our lifetimes.

When you turn 12, you're realize how silly that sounds.

Do you know how 99% of Syrians "fought" their civil war? By moving to a refuge camp. Do they have access to guns? Sure, they could all join to rebels, millions of them and win the war in a month.

But they have families, careers, lives, and don't give two shits about getting killed to overthrow some government they could just leave anytime they wanted. People who die for that, their lives are worthless.
>>
>>713441

Nah, never did like it, it's too British. I'd be lying if I said Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising isn't a major influence, but I see Armstrong's endgame as a transitional state. A more proper state, my endgame, is something I have yet to see properly implemented and described in fiction.

and yet the bad ones do

so what what do you do when one of them is right in front of you or someone you love, hmm? You're right, obviously. But that doesn't mean it's the way it is. The best way to stop someone from killing others is to disable or kill him as efficiently as possible.
>>
>>713486

Well then we have a revolution every 2 years, 4 and 6 years, its called elections.

You want to patriot act gone? Elect people who will actually work to repeal it, not a bunch of asshats who sit on their ass and bitch about the president doing his job too well, utilizing the power they gave to him too much.

But you rednecks never do. Its all about guns and abortion and rhetoric talking points about "liberty" to you guys. The republicans have you in their pocket.
>>
>>713489
Any intellectual battle between us is futile. We clearly have completely different moral systems and had completely different influences during our formative years. >>
>>713506
you dont understand how broken the system is do you? The only bipartisan thing that both the executive branch and both houses can agree on is that spying on us is a great idea. If that doesnt speak volumes about the state of our country, I dont know what does.

Democrats and Republicans are the same party and try to play off the country against each other with social issues. They are the problem and the way the system is now, that's all we have to choose from. Elections aren't going to fix this country anymore.

It shows how little you know when you assume everyone that doesnt agree with you is a redneck republican
>>
>>713524

Rigged by who? The NWO, the jews? Some sort of unknown world authority? No. They're controlled entirely by voters. If things get bad enough, there will be sweeping elections, a new party will emerge, etc. But Obama is not a fascist, most police are actually good people, there is no massive conspiracy or power grab by the executive branch, just a utilization of power granted to them by congress, which can and will be easily taken away.

We already have democracy, you don't need guns to fight your government, you can do that by voting.
