some of you might remember a day when /k/ didn't suck. times were good back when meplat was a janitor, and bat guano could be counted on to reply to every thread. hundreds of tripfriends and anons made this board great.unfortunately, shit has sucked for a while now. i've been too busy to mod this board personally, and /k/'s quality has slipped dramatically. you all already know this though.i'm happy to announce that an old moderator has rejoined the ranks, and plans to keep shit in line. he's an old friend of /k/, and has excellent taste in weaponry. please bear with us as we attempt to straighten things out. What is the smallest bullet that can be used for destroying hungry bears? Are there any pistols which are concealable at airports, durable enough to survive plane crashes and powerful enough to destroy bears?
if you are an incredible shot you can hit a bear in the eye with a .22 deringer and it will most likely die.

What kind of bear? Polar bear or Black bear, or something in between? How many times do you want to shoot it? Lot of variables...Protip: Don't use anything less than .357 if you're taking on a bear with a handgun. They have a thick hide and depending on the time of year, a lot of fat underneath. This reduces a lot of the effects of hydrostatic shock, so you need all the STOPPAN POWAH you can get. To answer your silly question about airports, no gun is concealable anymore, unless it's broken down into unrecognizable parts, all scent of anything related to it is removed and it doesn't contain any metal...Playing devil's advocate...you could probably kill a bear with something like 9mm or shitty 5.7 if you were to shoot it in both eyes and/or hit its brain.

What failure to fire drills does /k/ recommend? I was thinking of having a friend load my magazines and asking him to randomly make one or two rounds per magazine a snap cap, and then doing the usual tap, rack, bang routine when my pistol fails to go boom.Is this sufficient, or is there anything else I should be drilling?
>>5355248That's generally a good drill, though even better is to load several magazines, with only one snap cap hidden in only one magazine. That reflects a more natural occurrence of a FTF, since unless you're using totally shittastic ammo, you won't have 3+ in a single magazine.

>>5355278Yeah, because you really can't expect it when it's only one round out of 40+, so you'll deal with it in a way that you would if it really happened. You don't even need to do the drill as a stand alone thing. Just occasionally incorporate it into regular target practice.
