During the rough shaping a chunk broke off due to some weak grain.

This is natural and expected for stock making and will be repaired seamlessly.

Inletting black is applied to determine areas that need to be worked on.

In high school,I was part of the high level wood-shop competition scene.....I built this desk in my freshmen year....

any ways, I seen kids build gun stocks and enter them.

All they did was attach the various metal parts out of school,so they would not get in deep trouble.

Black areas are scraped down until none are left when the gun is pressed to the stock.

This assures it is level.

The chunk is attached with acroglass and colored.

This stuff looks, smells and tastes like chocolate frosting. It was the most delicious smelling part of this project.

Tape is applied so it cannot be made any smaller by an accidental slip of the plane.

Good guns. I'm going to re-parkerize mine because it's beat to hell.

I'm leaving it a bit thick for personal taste, the standard stock is very thin.

Basic scallops are measured and started into the top of the stock.

This allows the pad of your thumb to rest comfortably in the pistol grip.

Chisels are used to shape the grip.

A piece is taken off the end to prevent small chunks breaking off.

The chisels had to be sharpened half way through, belive me when I say these are sharp.

Now that blood has been drawn, the stock as character.

The trigger guard extends into the stock so a recess is needed to house it.

This step is not needed, but I over sized it so I could insert a stronger piece of wood that would reinforce this area.

Final fitting takes lots of time.

The stock must be symmetrical.

Lastly, the stock is sanded very intensely.

The first photo doesn't show shit about the final product you retard.

The stock is now complete.

All that is left is final fitting, sealing and staining.

The forend is next.

Sadly, 80% of my forend images where lost with a broken flash drive.

First, a pilot hole is drilled through the block.

That's not a date, that's a smiley face dumbass.

All measurements must be followed exactly so the forend can be operated smoothly.

Depth must also be followed so the retaining nut holds the forend tightly.

a 1 3/8" spade bit is used for the large diameter, 1" for the main hole the magazine tube goes through.

The other end is taken down to allow a tight fit with the retaining nut.

And here my final image before loosing the rest.

It's not missing much. A hole is drilled through and shaping is done much like the stock.

Do CST, and take the armorer courses that are offered by gun companies. You will be making your own bolt action rifle, learn machining, welding, stock making/checkering, everything you would ever need to fix a firearm. plus you can take courses not usually offered to civies like sig/colt armorer.

I still regret not taking colt's course, but I did take beretta, glock, sig, and S&W. brings in extra money doing warrenty work.

Probably won't be around to answer any questions. I really only come here to laugh my ass off. This is a funny website. Just figured as a CST grad, and gunsmith I would give you a heads up since you were interested.

This is awesome boof! Im currently looking into making some studded leather armor as my next project, and seeing your skill with wood, inspires me. Wood isnt strong enough for alot of my projects though maybe ill try and find someway to fashion something tougher like polycarbonate into some wannabe steel heavy armor!
