Ask someone who lives where the gun laws are more lax than any other civilized place in the world, which also happens to be the most liberal state in America, anything.

Notes: Democrats hold all major state offices, outnumber Republicans in the House 94-48, 22-8 in the Senate, and our Senator is the only elected socialist in America.

Gun rights are approximately the same as Alaska but have been that way for much longer (forever, actually). Constitutional Amendments for possession of firearms and freedom to hunt and fish all unmarked land and bodies of water.

I would not say we are socialist, really closer to libertarian on telling people what they can't do but with a strong safety net and a lot of environmental protections and conservation laws.

Hey, I love New Hampshire. The White Mountains are more impressive than any in Vermont, the lakes are huge, they have beaches, the people are great, and Coos County is the undisputed kind of Northeastern wilderness if you ask me. Also, "Live Free or Die" says it all.

That said, we have better gun laws, better maple syrup, better beer, and better cheese. It's a good combination really. But New Hampshire and Vermont are like two crazy brothers who the civilized states of New England kind of ignore but secretly kind of enjoy.

No, he's the only socialist to admit that he's a socialist. Most just call themselves "Progressives."
I don't know why anyone would be proud of having a socialist in office when socialism never has, and never will work.

And the only reason why no one has touched your gun rights in Vermont because there is virtually no blacks that live in Vermont. It was blacks moving up north after the Civil War that started all the no-gunz allowed bullshit.

Well, among our other accomplishments was the highest rate of service in the Civil War of any Northern State. Since then, we've had the highest rate of service in every US war. So I'd say there's a fair chance you will find some Green Mountain Boys in the hills of West Virginia if the South ever decides to break their oath to defend the constitution a second time.

>>12981932

I mean, he refuses to join the Democratic party because he thinks they're too right-wing. You can pick nits about who calls themselves what but you're just trying to derail this thread with your own unrelated political opinion.

The whole point to this is it's interesting that the most liberal state in America is also the one with the best gun rights. If you think it's because there are no blacks here, that's fine, but there are other nearly all-white states in America that still restrict gun rights far more than we do.

Pic sort of related is George Stannard, a Vermont Farmer and teacher who was a Union General and whose Second Vermont Brigade broke Pickett's charge at Gettysburg.

I will give you this - NH gets suppressors while our Fish & Game won't let you hunt with them. But honestly beyond that I don't think there's anything NH wins on.

Some more Civil War for the AKfag: When General Scott heard there were Green Mountain Boys available, he said: General Winfield Scott, learning that a regiment of Green Mountain Boys (the 1st Vermont Infantry) was awaiting orders, said "I want your Vermont regiments, all of them. I have not forgotten the Vermont men on the Niagara frontier... I remember the Vermont men in the War of 1812."

"It was the blacks"
"It was the small population"

There are many other states with small, very white populations. Almost all the rural midwestern, northwestern, and western states, for instance, and all of Canada. All of which have crappier gun rights than us.

Here are some things in Vermont that are restrictive: You can't hunt with suppressors, you can't carry a loaded long gun in your car but are free to have a loaded handgun (same as NH but you need a permit there). These are both fish and game regs.

Aside from that there are literally no restrictions. Vermont is the only state in the union you can fish with a shotgun in, the only one that's been permit-free for the last 30 years, and if there were no federal laws, I expect the only one to grant rights at 16 and 18 respectively for rifles and handguns.

I won't spend too much time unravelling that ball of yarn for you, but if you go to "Castle Doctrine", go down to "states with no specific law", you'll see that Vermont upholds the Castle Doctrine. We just didn't need the Legislature to make any law because the Courts already took care of it. Learn to democracy, please.

In Texas you need to permit to carry a handgun. In Vermont you don't. Seems as simple as that to me.

Guns can theoretically be 100% illegal to carry in the United States. Not that great if you ask me.

OC is far from half of our ability to defend ourselves. Even in states where OC is legal, it's not as common as CC, except in places where CC is almost banned (see California up until recently). We can carry as many loaded guns in our car as we can fit without a permit, OC long guns without a permit, Castle Doctrine is a way of life, and there's only a handful of establishments that it's illegal to carry in. Like Arisuka said, it's not great, but we're well ahead of both the United States average and the world average

Yes. Plus if you agree not to subdivide a 27 acre or larger parcel you can have it taxed at current use.

You have to remember that the only city here is Burlington but if you were 30 minutes away from that I'd estimate 20 acres undeveloped would go for about 60k depending on the value of the woodlot.

If you're willing to live in the rural areas then 80 acres for about 50k is about normal, again depending on resources and view.

No matter where you are you're either 3.5 hours from NYC, Boston, or Montreal, so there's that.
>>
>>12982126
Yes it is. You're a moron.

Banning open carry has more implications than just the surface.

It pretty much states that they don't want guns but they can't outright ban them completely. Use your brain. The gun atmosphere in a state where OC is banned is totally different from a state where OC is legal.
>>
>>12982131
wow, that is incredible, I ask because where I live you'd be lucky to get 3 acres for 200k. it is sounding better and better there.
>>
>>12982126
Here's the thing about Texas not allowing OC though. If you expose your weapon, you're technically violating the law, and IIRC even if you print it can be construed as not properly concealed.
In states where you can OC (such as NC) you don't have this worry. If you decide to take off your sports coat and your weapon is exposed, you're not breaking the law.
>>
>>12982151
This. A thousand times this.

The whole attitude towards guns is hostile in a state that bans OC.
