    /k/'s views on gun control?

I personally think you should be able to have as many of whatever gun you want, as long as your a citizen who does not have a serious criminal record

There should be a single background check for a license before purchase, and there definitely should be a set age where it's legal to buy

If you commit a crime such as assault, or any serious gun-related crime, no more guns for you, EVER

    Inb4

HURR DURR COMPLETE GUN CONTROL HURR

    or

DERP DURR COMPLETE FREEDOM GUNS FOR EVERYONE HERP

    or

    DURR BLACK MARKET DEALING HERP

(looser gun control laws could help stop illegal gun trade)

    It's simple.

-Mandatory "how to not be a retarded gun owner" course.
-Maybe have mandatory registry of firearms.
-Maybe take a leaf from the russki system where you start on basic gums and move on from there.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)19:45 No.10947660
The only problem I have with that is that the complete background check obviates any usefulness against the government. Still, I pretty much agree with you.

I live in Virginia, and I believe that the gun laws here are damn near perfect.
    >Automatic Weapons
If you go through the process and get your FFL and Class III, you can get automatic weapons. The average person should not be allowed an automatic weapon.
    >Long guns (including Assault Rifles)
You should be 18 before you can buy any of these. Thats fair. If you want a new rifle or shotgun for hunting, recreational shooting, etc, you should give your parents the money and have them buy it.
    >Handguns
You should have to be 21 to conceal carry a handgun. 18 year old kids are nowhere near mature enough to handle the responsibility of carrying a loaded, concealed weapon. Also, permits for conceal are good idea because it shows that you are actually responsible enough to go through the necessary classes and paperwork.

I'm willing to bet you can provide no good reason for this.

Fuck you. I live in Maine and have all of that... except you can get your carry permit at 18, since all ADULTS should have the right to protect themselves. Also, you can buy any used handgun at 18 as long as it's not from a licensed dealer.

any average shmuck being able to carry around a fully automatic weapon wherever and whenever isn't reason enough?

a lot of people probably don't understand the power that comes with a fully-automatic, or even a semi-automatic weapon. It would be better to have them educated about the weapon first right?

Have you fired a fully automatic weapon? The amount of rounds you can fire compared to, say, a semi-automatic AR is crazy. There is no need for the average guy to be able to own a weapon like that.

    >>10947747
Underage faggot detected. All brain development research shows that 18 year olds are much more likely to make bad, quick decisions than someone who is 21. I'm about to get my first pistol in May, when I turn 21. I live in a place where everyone has guns (very rural) and everyone is okay with getting their conceal permit at 21.
And you can buy a handgun via private sale in VA as well but you can only open carry and the magazine must be separated from the firearm while in a vehicle.

So should semi-autos be banned too then?

What if we put magazine restrictions on full autos, would that be a compromise?

    >No need

I wasn't aware it was called the Bill of Needs.

Full auto isn't useful for anything but suppressive fire, stop eating that 'spray fire from the hip' media crap.
