127 KB Bill Maher: US has bad relationship with guns Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)18:52 No.10947233
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Xz7Y330AE&feature=g-all-u&context=G2f91baeFAAAAAAAAAAA

It seems to me that the recent school shooting in Ohio has sparked gun debates the likes of which haven't been seen since the late 90's, early 2k's. There have been numerous isolated shooting incidents in this country in the past few years but the media is really raping the shit out of this story with gun debates even though the public isn't even talking about it. Why the sudden change? Do you think things are going to shift back to the 90's or is this going to remain the time where firearms sales and popularity are the highest they've ever been?
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)18:53 No.10947245

Right that makes sense, however, all I remember last election year was conservatards crying about their guns are going to be taken away. What's different now? I haven't seen this much liberal gun-hate since the 90's. It's funny to me because people these days aren't even taking the bait or responding well to it.

High profile mass shootings bring out the gun banning crowd.

The gabby giffords thing, in my opinion, is what really gave this new effort some steam.

I always thought the unique thing about the Giffords incident was that there was no real political debate on gun control. There was a little here and there but nothing serious. CNN is all over this like shit on flies. I mean, even Giffords herself didn't say anything about gun control and she was a liberal politician who just got shot by a crazed gunman on a shooting rampage.

didn't read posts but big surprise... Dumbest thing said in video, "everybody wants a right to bear arms but what about the rights to not have your children killed at school." Don't want your kids killed at school? Don't send them to school. That's the only guaranteed way you won't have your kid killed at school because whether it's a gun or not, there's always the potential for that. Some stupid 11 year old got killed in CA recently from getting punched in the head.

    and guns are like

perhaps, having actually been a victim of gun violence, she recognized that it was not the gun that caused it.

you'll notice that the loudest gun-control advocates are people who have never even held a gun in their life, let alone understand what drives gun violence.

However, it was severely outweighed by the opposition. Compare that to past decades. That bill didn't make a dent in anything nor did it make a difference. Frankly, those "new" co sponsers were probably just inactive Bradyfags who haven't represented them since Columbine.

Despite this shit, support for gun control is at long term lows across all demographics, including the dreaded libruhls.

This is from 2009, but it reflects the long-term trend.

There will be nothing done about our gun right or any new bill that will affect mag caps, barrel lengths, bullet buttons for errybody, or any of that shit.

Look at it this way, the economy is in the shitter. We all know this/ have known this for the last few years. But whats one market thats still doing well, even better than before? The firearms market and its related accessories.

Remember back to the 90's when things were pretty good, economically? BAM. We get slammed with Clinton's ASSHULT CLIPAZINE BABY KILLER WEPON ban. The re-tooling of the machining lines in the firearms factories cost multi-millions and hurt the firearms market. That's money our current economy can't afford to lose.

I don't agree with a lot of gun control measures, but I do believe that taking weapons into certain areas, like courthouses and schools, should be regulated. I do believe people should be able to conceal carry in college though. If they went through the trouble to get a permit and safety training, they should be able to carry and defend against shit like Virginia Tech.

Just think, if we let every redguard bring a weapon to court...
