The worst experience ever I think is buying something that looks like a deal on a whim, and then getting home only to see that you were really ripped.

i wanted to buy a gun from them when they were having a sale. the sale didn't specify if both the blued and stainless guns were on sale, but the floor manager approved the sale for the stainless gun.

before that happened i had to wait around an hour. then the faggot behind the counter was surprised that the manager approved it and went to "look" for the gun. he never found it and offered to sell me the display model, which if i didn't look over i would have bought in a different caliber than i wanted.

then i ended up waiting about another hour for the gun department manager to come by so he can special order it for me. he got there and told me he won't honor the price.

2 hours for fucking nothing. i was pissed so i filed a complaint with the bbb and they ended up selling me the gun for the sale price.

I got bitched out at a gun store when I was looking at the old lever action winchester shotguns.
The guy behind the desk kept insisting that guns in movies don't equal guns in real life because some western movie launched in movie theaters that weekend.

The kids that work the gun counter as this big box stores consider the background check a hassle. It annoys them, they rather not have to explain how to fill out the form to uniformed people, or call the hotline, etc, so they invent whatever excuse suits them so they can avoid it. They usually get away with it or can tell the manager that they didn't feel comfortable selling you a gun or some made up reason.

Worst experience : Had local gun shop's gunsmith work on a Colt Woodsman I bought for my wife. The work orders got switched and instead of fixing the problem (magazine not engaging properly) he engraved some asshole's name in it and refinished it.

I work in the Lodge dept (gun counter) at Dick's in Austin. The valid id thing is part of our training but a valid military id should have made that a non issue. I would suggest contacting the store manager, make sure its the actual store manager because each dept has its own manager, because they have the power to override any store policy or price. If you tell me where the store is at I may even be able to give you their Manager's name or if another store in the area has the same gun.
