  • Dear Londoners: I am in your lovely rainy city for the next few days. If you'd fancy a spot of tea and dessert,
send an e-mail to london@4chan.org with a sentence or two about yourself,
why you aren't Jack the Ripper, and include a timestamp.
    Cheers, —mootykins

    Yeah yeah.

The old userbase is either gone or they were retarded children from /v/ and /a/ the whole time and played pretend here. What we are left with is shitposters and a few people who autistically spam for "meido" and think it is even worth trying to self-moderate this shithole anymore. The problem with the second group is /jp/ never agreed on what is and isn't related so any janitor or whoever will just end up being confused about what to do. The GUST thing is an example of this as well as that guy who shitposts in trap threads etc without realizing how terrible his own posts are.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/12(Tue)09:56 No.8731331
4chan in general had good moderation for a few weeks this year, but then I have no idea what happened and we are back to business as usual.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/12(Tue)09:57 No.8731334
    Only a neo-/jp/er wouldn't be enjoying /jp/ today.

Didn't moot ask us to send him defined rules oj /jp/ over to his email last time he's been here? Also I wish he'd drop the Otaku Culture and change it to something else. Like NEET/hikikomori for instance. /jp/'s been terrible ever since the name change.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/12(Tue)10:25 No.8731376
The people who remain in jp/ are either people who have a high tolerance for shit or the people who delight in making it shitty.

The only thing that could maybe salvage it is if a shitposting was made a bannable offense in /jp/ and the moderators actually enforced this with IP bans, which will happen just about never.

/jp/ is better than ever. It is the only place outside of the textboards which preserves the absurd spirit of 4chan. If you want to be a burger about "quality posts," SAOVQ, Tohno-chan or some other pretentious dead board would be glad to have you.

If you want a nijiura, just ask moot for it instead of trying to force /jp/ to be one. I wouldn't mind it either but this is not the fucking place for it.

the thing is that when you have been to a board for a long time you don't see the big change.
This place is so different from what it used to be and it continues to change more and more.

if someone is implying that it's the same, they haven't been here for more than a year, and that must be about 80% of everyone on 4chan.

There's also a board for SFW image dumps of anime girls, yet nobody on /jp/ seems to frequent it; most posters are perfectly content to empty the contents of a danbooru tag into thread after thread here.

The appeal of a fast-paced anonymous BBS lies in its userbase's ability to transcend the founding principles of the board and create something unique. The moment a community becomes stuck up its own ass about what is proper is the point at which it becomes lifeless and redundant. In reality, almost all original content begins its lifespan as so-called "shitposting" because it is different from the contemporary accepted norms.

I've always wondered why /jp/ attracts the shitposters. Certainly there are other boards that are more suitable for their posting?

We need to find a way to improve /jp/ and make it a normal board again. What should we do?

I thought we established long ago that there's a board for everything that /jp/ discusses. We're just here because nobody wants us on those boards and we don't want them.

Then don't be surprised and frustrated when strange, seemingly-tangential threads start to pop up. It's the nature of a board as general in focus as this one with a userbase as bizarre as you and I.

I wouldn't be, if they didn't keep popping up constantly even after strong opposition. At this point it's hardly surprising.

/jp/ was not lifeless for many years, at which point it suddenly became lively because somebody decided he would make forty shitty threads a day.

    >In reality, almost all original content begins its lifespan as so-called "shitposting" because it is different from the contemporary accepted norms.
That's all good and wonderful, but you're not going to convince anybody that your retarded shit is just a board treasure that hasn't been discovered yet.
