as for the topic, I like to play rts's and I try it out every time I play a fighter, but not much, I prefer to read novels, that's how I ended up w/ the /jp/ crowd cause it gave me an interest in vn's, and I do love shmups (my first game genre)

That's partially because America is very multicultural/national and people of many races are accepted freely into the culture. Perhaps the east coast is different but I see just as many(if not more) minorities than I do white people.

Either way, I would imagine that what you are saying does not hold true for places that are predominantly white/"American" in heritage. It naturally does for the opposite, such as where I live.

The only countries you hear bad about from almost all of America are ones like Mexico, from where we get tons of unskilled illegal immigrants who tend to cause trouble or have no desire to learn English.

I've only got two undeserved hate mails on PSN
I think both were from FPS go figure

a few from AH3 commenting my skill lvl ( good )
2 random friend request ( confirmed Nip checked )

The rest is just mostly me dicking around with the little Japanese I do know and having fun

The Nips are pretty nice online they're like real bros they always say shit like ONEGAISHIMASU! together before a match ( at least in LP2 ) and laugh all the time even when they die, I hate a group of 3 that kept following me around trying to communicate with me

    ►my weeabo PSN name
    ►Guy 1 " ---- OI! koichi"
    ►Guy 2 "wwwww"
    ►Girl " wwwww"
    ►me " uh....gomen yo nihonjin dewa nai"

    ►Girl "eh honto? ( something I don't recognize)"
►me " ah kawaii desu ne? ( girls PSN ) kekko desu"
    ►Girl "wwwwww some more stuff"
    ►Guy 1 "Erote!!!!"
    ►Guy 2" Erote!!!"

    and then they kept calling me Erotei for the rest of the match ;_;

I'm italian and i played a lot with japanese people on FFXI, they were picky at first but inviting them directly and speaking a couple of japanese words here and there made them more friendly, i even had the same party for 3 consecutive days.
Most of the times they were curious at how i could write japanese even thou i was a foreigner, there were some that even talked in english after discovering i wasn't japanese, but it wasn't always like this. A couple of times i was left dead in the exp camp, sometimes they disbanded while exping, etc.

I'm playing one right now and it's almost the same as playing with anyone else. There's always a group of obnoxious people who can't stop attention whoring while everyone else plays the game. There's always assholes too. Regarding their stance toward being non-Japanese, I wouldn't know. I did meet some people and they found out I was a foreigner and they liked me, but I feel as if not everyone would react that way so I try stay as hidden as possible most of the time.

In Pangya I used to play on Japanese servers and they weren't so bad. I made some friends there with my entry-level Japanese and it went really well, it helped that most of our conversations involved calculating methods and record breaking tactics. In Dark Souls I would usually get pretty positive PMs from Japanese players, because I was one of the few westerners in Kiln not cheesing it with 2 party members, TWoP and bazooka shield (this was pre-patch). I imagine it wouldn't be as easy in games where a big part of the game is communicating, in which case I would not like to play with BRs and Russians either.

    >> Anonymous 02/27/12(Mon)11:02 No.8627438
They just dislike playing with Western people because your average English speaking gamer is used to English being language to go to once you get people from different countries in Europe in your party. They always forget that this is not the case with Japan. If there weren't other Japanese readily available you could probably argue that English would be fine, but there are always Japanese players available.

To elaborate, my best experience with japanese players was with a mithra I was partying with in the dunes. After she got level 20, I helped her get to Jeuno and showed her where to buy a map of Qufim and where to start the chocobo quest. When I asked her when she had money for the map, she said something along the lines of, "yes, I'm rich! I have 20k from gardening!" and I thought that was pretty cute.

Another time I was power leveling my friend's party and this japanese mithra/manthra wouldn't leave me alone. My friend started acting like a jealous bitch and it was pretty funny.

My only experience was in FFXI and it was horrible. If a JP group came by and they found out you weren't they would train the crap out of you. GMs were useless since they wouldn't arrive until hours later.

Last straw was when they trained us on Fafnir. When the GM showed up, instead of doing anything to them, he jailed our entire LS because of something one of our members said. It was 3 weeks before WoW's release so we just decided to quit early.

I used to have a whole folder of screenshots and videos of fafnir/nidhogg drama. FFXI end game for the first few years was the equivalent of heavily armed urban gangs fighting over very limited resources. Everyone had this irrational hatred of everyone else.

Due to the nature of FFXI they could not directly attack each other so exploits were constantly explored. God I loved those Darters and the mischief they were capable of...

But the best was when someone would finally get the dream gear they wanted and immediately leave the LS and join a rival, and announce how much they fucking hated being in that LS for the past 9 months.... The only reason they didn't quit before was because they had been next in line for their trinket for so long.

I'm playing Tera JP, and I have been for a few months now. I tend to keep quiet and I'm nice when I'm partying up with other Japanese people, so I'm not sure if anyone has noticed I'm a foreigner yet, or at least no one has been rude to me. However, there were a couple instances during the open beta back in August where Japanese players knew I and other players were foreign, and they still treated us very nicely.

There have been a couple times when a few players went into "This game for japanece only" mode, but it was in response to idiot foreigners spamming English over the party recruit chat, so I think it's justified. That was mostly during the open beta, but there was a time even a few weeks ago when a couple BRs were using the party recruit chat instead of whispering or using party chat. With the most recent maintenance, a VPN is now required to play, so I think most foreigners are gone at this point.

QB Hunting. Quit since I'm on the east coast and was getting just under the recommended ping. Kept thinking I was letting the team down.

I got booted out of JP-Tera because of that bullshit maintenance as well. Had two 58 characters there with decent gear and a number of good Japanese friends who were bilingual and grouped me for HM instances. Now I'm stuck waiting for the NA release, because Hangame is too retarded to take my money. I couldn't even play through my VPN after it happened.

Sucks to be you guys. I've received plenty of friend requests and private room invites from Japanese players in BB and AH.
