01/15/12(Sun)07:54 No.8417771>>8417720 Okay, look, I'll make this simple.
There
are two types of threads that noticably benefit from an increased post
limit: troll threads and chain threads. The case with troll threads
should be obvious: the longer they can keep it up, the better, right?
The
main issue is with the chain threads. In, say, /a/ and /v/ these are
often problematic with the community because they fill out fast, forcing
people to create new ones and making them have to jump from thread to
thread and continuosly repost images from the last threads. It's an even
bigger problem for the people who don't like the subject, as new
threads of the same subject are created at an annoying rate, making them
frustrated as well.
/jp/ doesn't really have this issue, because
the threads fill out relatively slowly, and even the people who don't
like the chains (here it tends to be the idol thread haters) can pretty
much keep a track of them and at least theoretically could hide them as
they come without it becoming a chore. We don't even have that many
chains here. Idols, figs, drawthreads... anything else?
Comiket
threads are exceptionally fast due to visitors, and they only happen
twice a year, so even though they justifiably could benefit from a
higher bump limit, it's simply not worth the tradeoff. Too much risk,
too little reward. |
