How are you going to survive in Gensokyo after you will get there? You won't have gun or any other weapon at start and until you will get invited to tea party and sake group you will have at least one dangerous encounter. How are you going to find way to safety in human village?

I'm on my patch straight to hell. I want to get to the palace of earth spirits as soon as possible. I only have to beat a bunch of fairies and youkai in the cave that goes down, then Parsee, then all the youkai that live underground, then Yuugi, then some ancient spirits and I'll finally get to Satori.
    Yes, easy as hell.

Am I the little girl or am I a large hairy ape man OP?

I always carry a lighter with me. If I end up in Gensokyo with my clothes, why wouldnt my lighter which is always in my pocket be there? Unless I was dropped in to Gensokyo naked, then I would be kinda fucked.

I guess I would locate some bushes and wrap my self in leaves, then look for some dry wood to start a fire with. I would build a massive fire and keep making it bigger until it got the attention of a any greater Youkai that was passing and ask them for aid.

Worst case scenario, I start a forest fire and Reimu comes to stomp some Youkai ass, only to find my naked ass and is forced to aid me. She would take me back to her shrine and we would have tea.

Am I the little girl or am I a large hairy ape man OP?

Gensokyo is small. I'll just cover myself in mud and leaves and slowly creep across the landscape barefoot, and silent, until I reach safety.

Seriously now, you're easily going to survive a few hours if you don't act stupid, more than enough time to find a safe haven. But if you stay out in the forest for weeks/months statistics are going to win, and you'll be food sooner or later.

Let's play a game; Find the Finnish soldiers.

If you were transformed into a little girl, you would probably have powers too, so average youkai wouldn't be an issue to you.

Since you are on the way to the human village and youkai are a threat, let's say you are your normal, weak human self.

    Safe places:
    1-Human Village.
    2-Getting Keine and Mokou's help.
    3-Hakurei Shrine, at least temporally.
    4-(Probably) Marisa's house, temporally.
5-Kourindou (he's a half human and sells things from the outside world, so I'd think he would be interested in me at least a little).
    6-Myouren.

Unless we can get to one of these quickly, we are fucked. Therefore, it all depends on where we spawn.

I'm not sure why people are always worried about being eaten. With the generic /jp/ diet and lifestyle, we probably taste like tripe.
Of course that doesn't help much if they kill you before figuring that out.
    >> Anonymous 12/30/11(Fri)20:15 No.8318308
It's a huge gamble and my course of action would depend on what manner of creature I meet first. If I meet one of the more primitive or violent man-eating youkai first, may as well give up and try to enjoy being eaten. If it's Cirno, I'll survive by outdumbing her.

Offering them sexual service wouldn't work because I'm a skinny nerd and they already have Mannosuke. I guess the best I could offer is to appeal to their vanity, offering whatever female youkai I meet to depict her in a painting. Most women are vain enough to fall for this, and I doubt youkai women are any exception.

Why would you even go into the Magic Forest? You're an outsider, you'll be eaten instantly.

Then I would not be headed for the human village. As I am not the little girl the human village has nothing to offer me. I would be headed to Senkai to start my new like as a Tao monk and eventually resurrect as the little girl.

As for surviving. Im am hardly weak. I know my way around the woods and can build a fire from scratch. As stated earlier I would build a massive fire until I caught someones attention. Fire protects you from cold and most wild beasts.

But I'm assuming we spawn in random places. If you spawned in the human village, It'd be fine, but what if you spawn in Youkai Mountain? You're fucked. Depending on where you spawn, you have some choices that might save your life. For example, if you spawn in the outsides of the forest of magic, you'd want to look for Kourindou, which should be nearby, and trace your way to the human village from there. You could even get Rinnosuke's help if you get his attention.

Since its near impossible for a human to get on Youkai mountain, spawning on Youkai mountain could give you an advantage. You would want to find the Tengu and convince them you are a God and need to be escorted to the Harukei Shrine so you can rain divine punishment upon Reimu. When you get there you plead for her help in exchange for your loyalty.

I've run myself and others through so many drills I'm pretty sure I would either survive or know when I'm beat and face death valiantly.

Most creatures fear fire, even the youkai kind. Its unlikely you will run across a primal youkai that does not. If you have time to build a fire that takes care of them. After that, your biggest fear would be one of the named, human eating, Youkai. At least they are intelligent and you may be able to talk your way out of them eating you. The other thing is, they are are by comparison. If you can get a fire going, you should be able to find safety. Only takes about an hour to build a fire from scratch. The odds are in your favor.

Spell cards seem quite advanced and can probably only be harnessed by special individuals.
I wouldn't rule it out entirely, though.

As >>8320802 says, only a select few can enter Gensokyo. If you managed to get there, it must have been for a reason, not just your own desire to enter it.

I believe that the person's latent abilities are converted into the danmaku system, which the Hakurei family created a while ago. From that, I assume that the stronger your abilities are, the more you can do danmaku. Furthermore, once you get to a certain level of power, you can concentrate your abilities by scribing it onto a spellcard. The stronger you are, the stronger your spellcard is.

    Examples:
Reimu's power comes from creating ofudas, talismans, etc., solidifying her link to the Yin-Yang orb, practicing and strengthening her spiritual powers, among others.

Second part of the plan is that i build an altar for hell gods of gensokyo. Contact them. I shall then pledge my loyalty to them and hope to win their favor. This is also where little girl's carcass would come in handy as a sacrifice.
As servant of evil size of my power would be at least 5 steps ahead of a regular outlander, at least in the beginning.
And this way i hopefully can reach sake parties sooner and marry resident or ruler of hell and by then my power would be absolute.

I don't know anything for sure, but I could have sworn I read something about how gods and youkai aren't too much different.

The way I figure it, gods run on faith and youkai run on fear. Neither of which you see in much abundance in the outside world

Like I said, that's one possibility. Then again, the tie between magic and belief is pretty strong, so you might be right in any case.

Ah, I missed that because I've only played that with Marisa.

Well, the challenge is to convince her otherwise. I think that could actually be easier then it seems. Anything that would interest a child, I'd assume.

"I've only seen humans in the form of drink."

"Well, did you know humans can make cool toys?"

"That's AWESOME! What toys do they make?"

I think she'd rather want people as toys than toys.

I believe she's normally docile when she's not hungry or excited. So you may be more or less safe if she's neither of those.

    True.

Flandre might be interested in hearing a story from the outside or two. I still think the best bet is a little TLC at the right time.

Sounds like your perversions are distorting your reason. Just drop an arm, and ease your way out the door and around the corner. Then run until you get dizzy.

I think the bigger issue here is how you ended up in Flans room to begin with. I suppose its possible if we are randomly spawning in Gensokyo. So I guess you better research what pound of flesh a human can live the longest without. Perhaps a shaving off the hip?

Well, from the interactions I've seen, her personality is almost entirely that of a child, and a child that has played with the same toy a few times gets bored of it.

Therefore, show her something new, and you've got her interested in it.

Patchy is inhuman in the same way Alice is. They are beings of barely comprehensible intelligence spread over an extended lifespan.

That said, I think Patchouli and Alice are fairly relateable on a human level.

Actually, Patchouli is a normal human, surprisingly. Alice was a human, but then became a youkai. Most accepted theory of this change was that the power of her grimoire leaked into her, changing her into a youkai. This is further supported by the fact that the last time she was a human was the appearance in Mystic Square, where she opened the grimoire. In PCB, she was a youkai.

Magician is a type of youkai

Patchouli and Alice are of this subspecies. Some are natural, like Patchy and some are human who have casted the spell that makes them not need to eat and drink.

More or less this-ish, Patchy is naturally a Magician, Alice isn't, though she became one between mystic square and pcb... though I believe thats a retcon compared to pc-98 canon.
Marisa on the other hand isn't a magician by species, think of it more as a class. (of course if she keeps it up she'll almost surely turn into a youkai one day herself)

Youkai have youkai babies I guess.

Obviously ZUN's youkai don't function like the youkai of actual Japanese myths anymore than they look like the youkai of actual Japanese myths.

Anyway it's stated in one of ZUN's books, I think, that Alice became a youkai and Patchy always was one.

    from touhouwiki.net

    >Magicians (魔法使い or 魔女) in the world of Gensokyo are powerful beings that have the ability to learn and practice any type of magic that exists in the world. Most magical beings can use only the innate magical power that they were born with, but magicians can develop any power they wish after studying and analyzing it.

    >"Natural" magicians are a subclass of youkai, and inherit this unique ability as being part of the magician race. Human magicians are not born with this special ability, but instead have practiced and trained to master the skill of a magician. However, human magicians must work much harder than natural-born magicians to achieve the same results.

Well if you go by DnD Sorcerers are humans with an old blood line and they can trace their ancestery back to a dragon. The most common seams to be red dragons. Sorcerers are born with a natural ability to use magic. They are more human than dragon but they have dragon blood in them. If a sorcerer gains enough power they can tap more in to their dragon blood and become a whole other creature. Doesnt sound to different from magicians.

Mages can gain enough power and turn in to other creatures as well, thought the most common form is a Lich.

Its still my opinion that Patchy was born human and turned Youkai overtime by tapping her passive Youkai blood line. Patchy is defiantly a Sorcerer.
    >> Anonymous 12/31/11(Sat)22:19 No.8326362
    >>8326216
Sorcerers are born casters, Mages have to learn to be casters. A sorcerer who never developed their abilities could live a normal human life. I could be wrong but it sounds like the same system Zun is using for magicians.

The question I would like to know, what Youkai does Patchy get her blood from?
    >> Anonymous 12/31/11(Sat)22:30 No.8326412
It isn't a bloodline or genetic thing that allows you to use magic naturally, like sorcerors from D&D (who cast via Charisma btw). It is a literal race/species.

The difference is that in D&D Sorcerors are still human/elf/whatever, it's just that due to their bloodline or their genetics or 'nature' they have an inuitive ability to cast magic. That is why they cast via CHA rather than INT, because for them it isn't understanding magical theory, it's a performance of an intuitive artform.

Patchy is nothing like that. She is literally another species, much like how elves/dwarfs/orcs are different from humans in D&D.

Patchy is much more like a wizard/mage/witch monster class that has its own dice rather than taking classes.
