How can I force myself to learn things when I have no motivation to actually do it or when I do I read/study for 2pages/2minutes and then give up (I can force read things but I don't learn anything. Going to slow is impossible because I end up wasting hours and I'm afraid of that, though it somehow happens here anyway)?

Are there any over the counter drugs I can try to get a rush of concentration? Any practice/techniques/tricks/tips I can try to concentrate better? I am already taking meds for anxiety/depression though it's not doing much except making me feel paranoid and listless sometimes.

I don't know OP but I know that feel all too well.

I'm also surprised that so many people on /jp/ learned moon,
i thought they'd be like me and totally unmotivated for that

essential to treatment is exercise/physical activity, battling negative thoughts with positive

Funny thing, I can learn a little moon each day. One or two kanji and/or a little vocab. It's interesting to me and not a chore. I like writing it too. It doesn't get too dull. I just don't have enough motivation to learn much in one sitting/go/day. If I do I don't have very good retention so I'll forget most of it.

What are you trying to learn?

Why are you trying to learn it?

I don't think I can ever get myself to exercise. I did once when I was in my teens. It did feel ok but it's too much work and effort. I want to do it but it's just.. I have no motivation. Trying to think positive is harder than it sounds. I used to smile at myself in the mirror and it sort of worked in at least allowing myself to keep a smile on sometimes, made me feel a bit happier too but now I can't really do anymore. Oh well.

    >>8283945
A few things like programming, math basic algebra then calc/trig etc., accounting, finance, writing, drawing, and maybe sculpting. Because I want to learn these things and hopefully get a job out of it. It's not going very well though, I know nothing. Feels terrible. I want some magic meds.

Listening to music actually ends up distracting me. Also somehow I end up getting dizzy and feeling sick sometimes when I study. This was before the meds though.

If you have to force yourself, you're doing it completely wrong. Read AJATT.

Try different types of exercise. I've run sporadically for a long while, but sometimes it would feel like a chore, which is what lead to me not being very consistent. Then I started lifting weights several months ago, and it's something I look forward to, since it's so much fun.

So, try other types of exercise: running, bike riding, weight lifting, swimming, whatever you haven't tried.

Damn son you love a lot of things.

What helps a lot with discipline is setting obtainable goals--the kind that also serve a purpose.

I really don't know how to go about that for you, since I'm no life coach or teacher, but I would suggest on the outset to focus on mathematics. From there you can easily branch off into accounting, finances, and programming.

Calculus helps especially for the first two.

The only thing I can really say is you have to set goals. You have to keep track of said goals. Once you start accomplishing the smallest tasks, then you'll start feeling like you're making progress, and you'll be more inclined to learn more.
Also, finding the right way to learn something can be difficult--not everyone is cut out for textbook learning. Try and find what method of teaching (visual, manual, textual, aural) you respond to best and find material in those styles.

I find it very hard to work / stay motivated to do something if I try to do it while sitting in my room. Personally if I want to read a book or something I head out to the library to do it, but if you've got a free room or space away from your room then that's good too. Basically, just try to find a place, ideally containing minimal distractions, where you can go and work. You want to find a place where your mind can get into the habit of switching into work/focus mode.

As for drugs, I've heard that taking half a pill of Ritalin works wonders, although I've never tried taking such things myself.

Actually I don't have a problem with Jap but I don't really have much use for it right now, I will get back to it seriously once I get a job and free time. I have a few VNs I've been itching to read/play.

    >>8284020
Asked my doc for it but he said I don't need it. Only Zoloft for me for now, I'm going to ask for another med, maybe I'll try again. He just says it's my anxiety though.

    >>8284014
I don't know how to swim or ride a bike, I did weight lifting before but it was a huge chore and not fun. Did feel nice feeling energized if I recall correcttly, been too long. I used to like running but now I run out of breath in a few seconds. I am a twig. I'll try stretching for now.

    >>8284026
    It's Triple HHH.

    >>8284030
Well it's more like I aspire to do those things, I have no talent for any and I certainly don't know how to do it. Discipline is my biggest problem. I've always had trouble since I was a child. I need someone to hold my hand or I get nothing done. I want to do it but it's so very hard. I just want to be good at everything but I don't want to put the effort to do so. I also get discouraged when I don't get very far after a few days and give up. I don't know what would be best for me but so far it's been textbook and a few youtube videos. Thank you though!

    >>8284038

The three editions of HHH Triple H, cheese pussy girl, the cousin, and the dad all got animations.

First one is only the first half of cheesy pussy adventures though. I hope they will animate the rest.
