Huge / not as huge LiW Miku going to be sold via GSC website. I know all you nendo orderers are excited about that.

Orders will be taken from 2011/08/31 at 12:00(JST) until 2011/09/26 at 21:00(JST).

Also they don't specify EMS this time.

The smaller version looks so boring.

Funny thing is, the marble-like texture completely killed this one for me.
If I had money to buy it(I don't) I'd have to repaint the base or something.
Also, the smaller base wouldn't be half as bad if they kept just the small megaphones on the pole.

What is peoples' problem with figma being articulated? It's so.. redundant. It's like complaining that a statue has no articulation, e.g missing the entire point. They're obviously not static statues of any kind; if you want a gorgeous display piece pvc, then just get the pvc. If you want something more versatile/fun, maybe something you want to give a personal pose that feels most authentic to the char for you, or if you like making silly poses/scenes, that's what figma are for.

We'll probably never see a well-done, non-gk line of touhou action figures ever again; there is a huge novelty/collectible factor to these.

Or, maybe Griffon could make a figutto Suika I guess, only at the rate they're going you'll be waiting for 15 years; the line seems to be near-dead.

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your continued support.

We are sending this message to customers who have ordered "Touhou Project Special Version 1/7 Eternally Young Red Moon Remilia Scarlet - Gungnir ver.- Complete Figure (normal color)."

Unfortunately much of the stock for this item we received from the maker was damaged. For this reason, we will need to procure new, undamaged stock. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience, but this process will delay shipping of the item to our customers.

We are working hard to procure replacement products for all affected customers and expect to receive a new shipment in mid to late September. Once we have received the new stocks, we will ship your order as soon as possible. We apologize on behalf of the maker for this inconvenience.

If your order for this item includes other items that are in-stock, we can ship the in-stock items ahead if you would like. We of course can also move the item to any September orders you may have.

If you have any questions or concerns about this matter, please feel free to contact us. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,
    AmiAmi

I just got a new credit card (was previously doing a prepay sort of thing), and added it to Paypal. They asked for a confirmation code which will apparently come in my next statement (up to thirty days later). The thing is, I've an order due by the end of the week and I was hoping to use the card to pay for it. Don't suppose I'll get my code before then? Or can I pay through paypal anyway now without getting the code?

Man I thought I was on the other side of the hill for this year's spending but my orders for the last third of the year are actually going to be around a third of my total. Which is like 4 or 5 times what I spent on this kind of stuff on average previously.

Reinforce GK fag here, holy hell is resin some nasty shit. Removed the injection runners with a dremel and there was fine, filament-like dust everywhere. Tried wet sanding the remaining stumps and other bumps; I think the sandpaper has to be made for it, because this purple 3M stuff got floppy rather quickly.

Sage for personal blog, but I may make this a nightly thing given the amount of latent interest in GKs I've seen.

Question for those who often order figurines on the net:

Newfag here, and I'm currently having a pre-order spree at amiami (got like... 5 nendos pre-ordered for january), but I have no frigging idea which shipping method I should use.
I don't mind waiting but saving money is always a plus, but I would be totally butthurt if the SAL parcel is lost of utterly damaged.

No idea how the weight would go (probably 3kg?), something like 5000 SAL or 6200 EMS...
    Any thought?

SAL parcel has tracking and requires a signature. I forgot how much the insurance covers, but it should be at least 5000 yen.

Yeah, just that I'm afraid of things going south, when amiami describe SAL themselves as "is similar to sending a letter through the mail."
    >>7808913
Wait, SAL parcel does have tracking ID? Really?
I was under the impression that SAL parcel was just an economical package shipment, without anything except signature upon delivery.
That's definitely one of the only merit (along with speed) that I was attributing to EMS so, nearly no reason to go with that.

I assume tracking with SAL isn't as thorough as EMS, yes?
    Thanks for the answer, bros

Oh be careful bro, aside from the fact that Games Workshop green stuff is marked up by like 300% compared to everyone else's it comes in these shitty rolls. You see the yellow is the putty and the blue is the hardening agent and as soon as they touch they start to react and harden. Because GW green stuff comes in rolls with the yellow and blue side by side when you use them you have to cut off the interface between the two because they have already hardened.

Proper companies well their green stuff in two separate canisters which allow you to pinch what you need out and mix without wasting any.

Don't listen to that guy. there's no need to buy "name brand" putty if it's going to be covered in paint. Look for "epoxy putty" anywhere tools and plumbing repair supplies are sold. Experiment with the mixing ratio if it hardens too fast becomes to hard to sand.

If you're just impatient and not cheap, just mix baking soda with 5 minute epoxy. your gap will be filled and it will be bulletproof.

If you INSIST on a branded package solution, get TAMIYA or GSI CREOS epoxy putty through mail order.

Also, Codyscoop is outdated. It's one of a million modeler's websites that teach you old school so you can do things the hard way because those old sites are written by bitter neckbearded old fucks who want you to suffer like they did. Vaseline and polyester putty? FUCK THAT NOISE! Use SSP-HG or Baking soda and CA glue. Results are instant and sands like resin.
Squadron or gray putty? BULLSHIT. That crap shrinks. See above or if you have 10-20 Euro to spare, look for light curing putty and an ultraviolet light. No need to put your shit aside for 24 hours while you wait for shit to dry, using SSP-HG/clone and/or light curing putty and you'll have a kit filled and test fit in a single afternoon.

There's a reason hobby stores are out of business. Everything they sell is USELESS to a modeler. Tip your hats to the pioneers of Hobby japan and deneki hobby for making model making what it always has been: A HOBBY. no need to buy shit, use your imagination and don't let a retail catalog be your roadblock. My suggestion is find a GOOD modeling forum and learn how shit is done. don't rely replies from a random internet forum for answers.

Personally, mostly Amiami, with HS and HLJ as backups, and Mandarake (and very, very occasionally ebay) for older/harder to find stuff, and Yokatta for exclusives.

Use SAL shipping and customs is only very rarely an issue. Usually takes somewhere between 1-3 weeks for stuff to arrive, mostly clustering around the 10-14 day mark. EMS on the other hand means customs will be all over your shit, and thanks to the delays introduced by that, it's not actually substantially faster than SAL, and gives you a lovely bill before you can pick up your parcel (wouldn't be so bad it it was just the taxes, but ParcelForce hit you with an additional £13.50 fee per-package; at least if an SAL package gets hit with customs fees, Royal Mail's handling fee is "only" £8).

Right, so I used a cutting wheel to lop off most of the injection runners before grinding them down somewhat with an aluminum oxide (red) grinding wheel. I liked the grinding wheel better than the shaped steel tips; the latter left a fringing, sloppy finish that took more effort to clean up afterwards. I'm going to try one of the smaller "jewelers" tips today to clean out some flashing webs that keep the head from fitting into the hair parts.

A mask or respirator is mandatory; I'd also suggest doing it outside.

files you use for taking significant portions off. like a nub, sand paper is for getting rid of small details like flash lines, scratches, raised paint(or anything like that)

really one swipe with a file and you can already be a mm deep.

common sense dictates that files last longer than sandpaper.

i used them primarily to file down rough remains of flash after cutting them off. than i smooth out the rest with fine sandpaper.
i have a set of fine diamond files in all kinds of shapes so i use them for rough edges and rougher seamlines as well.

a decent set of files is a wise investment imo

Got a cast-off question for the pros.

If the plug and hole doesn't quite seem to want to fit, what is the best course of action?

I was removing the protective plastic and as with many cast-offs you need to remove some parts to get rid of the plastic. But when I wanted to put the pieces back together I had issues fitting the plugs into the holes. The model of course still works either nude or with the clothing hanging on, but I dislike leaving things broken if it is possible to fix.

I did a quick attempt at using a needle to enlarge the holes, but I think the only needle I found was actually slightly smaller than the hole and did nothing.

well I use baby powder but the idea is the same. The fine grains of the powder cause a reaction with the superglue, causing it to harden. but since it is powder it makes the mixture pretty easy to sand. This is good for small areas but you going to start crying(literally as the glue fumes will irritate your eyes) if you want to fill large gaps.
I still agree with no name brand, because they give you such a shit amount. I buy 16oz kits for like 15ish and they last me for a year or more. Look for apoxie or Magic Sculpt

    Don't panic my friend.
here is what you do. get boiling water, and drop it in to get nice and hot. this will make it just pliable enough for you to bend it. if that does not work you will probably have to get putty to fill in the gaps. from below it might look weird but when she is all put together I don't think anyone will notice.

with the putty way, you might want to wrap the panty part in clear wrap to prevent the putty from sticking to that part when you only want it to stick on the skirt.

Since Detolf was mentioned in this thread, I'm going to ask.
Where can I buy one of these?
I checked the Ikea site, but it seemed to have disappeared from the US.

I think someone said they've discontinued it, you might have to look through their catalogue and find an alternative you like.

    Nope not discontinued.
I just got 2 of them recently.
Over here, it is in their new 2012 catalog with a discount as well.

    I found this looking around:

The DETOLF product range is not being discontinued. Unfortunately,
discrepant information was initially provided internally at IKEA
regarding this product's future availability, which resulted in our
    incorrect response.

This was the end of July, so who knows.

wow. looks almost exactly like my failed adventure with green stuff yesterday.
turns appears GW's version of "green stuff" is more geared towards sculpting shit instead of filler.

this guy mentions miliput and it sound more up my alley since it seems it behaves more like clay instead instead of dried up chewinggum. it also seems pretty versatile.
did anyone work with that stuff here?

The skirt halves fit together reasonably well on their own. While I couldn't hold it together one-handed for a picture, the empty skirt or the hips fit into the lower torso quite solidly, however all 3 don't seat properly, and there are vertical gaps showing between the skirt and the blouse on the torso.

It's more like her hips are too big.
