Disgaea 2 was the best Disgaea game, and she made it even lovelier.

Story-wise it might be very cliche and/or pale.
But mechanics-wise it is incredibly solid, and I argue for it having the best character development and relations in the series so far.
Too bad Disgaea 4 got fucked, it could have risen to the top. It's possible it still can, but in no way will one ever be able to think about that game and not grieve over the bastardization it became.

They killed the editing mode. No custom maps/scenarios/stories for anyone (except the Japanese).
    >> Anonymous 07/18/11(Mon)02:25 No.7633462
    >>7633446
No they didn't. Because of some localization issue (don't ask me what), they changed the level editor so you build levels out of a toolbox of larger pieces instead of individual cubes, but it's not like they cut the whole thing out or anything.

    >>7633462
    >hey changed the level editor so you build levels out of a toolbox of larger pieces instead of individual cubes
    Aka killed it.
They seriously butchered it. You don't get individual cubes, rather you get huge sections of entire rooms. They have made it as unweidly so that you supposedly aren't even able to draw shapes with them.
You also can't stack blocks on top of or even next to eachother, which you could normally. They also killed off any ability write. So no character names and no map names. But more to pressingly, you can't edit descriptions anymore, making custom scenarios practically impossible.

The editing is killed. Being reduced to huge chunky "landforms" that you still don't get to do what you want with, all the while you won't be able to touch any text in the map whatsoever.
    Expect, nothing interesting at all.

And in my opinion Disgaea 1 is much better than Disgaea 2. Story, chareacters, music, atmosphere. When Lord Laharl's Hymn started playing, the one at the end, with lyrics, I was ready to start weeping.

    Might as well ask this.
    Concerning Disgaea, and PSP.

What are the pros/cons of CFW PSP?
What happens with official services such as, well, netplay/DLC/Internet etc?
Is it a cat&mouse game of sorts, with Sony continiously denying these services and hackers adding them back? Having the services a few months and gone a few others, ad nauseum?
Or does it simply work, or does it simply not work?

But if I have an official Disgaea 2 UMD disc for instance.
Can I have CFW, and still download DLC for my official Disgaea 2?

All in all, pros and cons with PSP CFW/Hacking?

Can't play Disgaea 3 anymore as my PS3 broke.
The XMB screen works fine, can also watch downloaded movies (avi etc).
Can no longer, launch a single game however, the screen just turns black. As for "Blueray laser" being broken or anything, can't play stuff from the HDD either.
Two exceptions though, but if I try to access the XMB screen from within, everything freezes as well. And if I quit the games, it returns to black screen just as if any of the other games that doesn't work were to have been launched.

    Quite troublesome.
Do I have to copy/backup everything, reformat/system restore, before I can play the game again? Bought DLC I never got to use because I hadn't finished the game yet and everything.

By the way, Phantom Brave is on PSP too, now with even more added content. Since I didn't play Wii version, I started with Another Marona immediately. While rather hard, having acquired advanced tactics let me do it without great troubles and game overs. Also, you get somewhat overpowered character, even if you have to grind them from level 1. Also, the AI seems to mostly ignore Marona in story battles and go for the phantoms instead. In the battle against Sprout and an invincible enemy, when I got in a situation where I couldn't damage Sprout at all, I won by throwing the invincible enemy at him an running away like a little girl.

Might as well post more Marona.

By the way, N1 games are much, much better in portable versions, and not only for the extra modes/characters since they're ports, but due to the fact that they're huge timesinks, and the ability to play for a bit and then put the console to sleep, or grind for a while on a train or a bus is a big plus. Hunting for a divine sword was pretty time-consuming on the PS2, and a dungeon run has to be done in one go, which is a lot more convenient this way.

All PSPs can be hacked now? With no downsides and equal functionality?

So, I can just follow the instructions on the project page for installaiton, run it on 6.39?
And finally play Milky Holmes, among other things, with no downsides? Or even risks?

I thought the failure was not getting an old enough PSP, but it can do everything the old ones can now, just as good? Feels like I shouldn't have given up on it.

I didn't really keep up with things, but yeah, I have official 6.35, all you need is to run the homewbrew enabler, psp reboots, run iso loader and you're set to go. I hear the iso loader is less compatible than a proper cfw, but so far all the /jp/ games I tried on it worked.

I mean that some games don't seem to run on the iso loader, while a cfw can run most of them as far as I know.
The homebrew enabler+iso loader is easy as fuck to use, you just copy the folder into your official fw psp and run the first, then the second. Bam, you can play isos on official firmware.
