Denpa Onna looks like it's going to be.. quite good.

Also if you like comedy/SoL nichijou seems like it's going to be the best one of those since Azumanga, well at least going off the first episode.

Also Steins;Gate has an adaptation that's airing and will go 2 coer so that might also be worth a look.

Also there's like 40 shows airing this season, and so it's easily possible you'll bump into something you weren't planning on seeing and end up liking it.

    Nichijou is good.
    Steins;Gate, unbelievably, is good.
Hanasaku Iroha is... frustrating. Depending on how is the plot going to develop it might be great, or shit. But it's got good production values, at least give it a try.
Fireball Charming doesn't have as good design as the first season, but if you've seen it I don't have to tell you should watch it. If you didn't, go do it now.
    X-Men is... kinda good.
That's all I've seen so far.

That's all just personal opinions so whatever, I think Nichijou is actually probably going to be funnier than Azumanga. Not as heartwarming or with as good of character designs, but funnier nonetheless.

It also seems that the majority of people agree that it's funny, so you're the odd man out for thinking that it's not funny, and outliers can be discarded when trying to analyze the collective opinions of a huge mass of people. Especially considering that no matter how unanimously good a show is seen as being, there will be dissenters, because it's human nature to have a sudden hipster streak and reject something that you don't completely understand why people like it. Although sometimes you understand and then just write off those kinds of people as being just plain incompatible with your way of thinking, but since you liked Azumanga we can't do that here. Hence you're more of just an outlier.

Although really I should shut up already since there's only been one goddamn episode and it could easily take a turn for the better or worse. But, compared to Azumanga's first episode and especially Lucky Star's first episode, Nichijou has a ton of promise.

Can you name a single other "dark" mahou shoujo then? Nanoha doesn't even come close to counting for that btw.

And I wouldn't call it a plot twist when it was obvious from the start that we had a very incomplete story and would only learn a more complete picture near the end. You think Homura attacking QB and almost killing him in Ep1 was not a clear demonstration that something is majorly wrong with the entire system, you think that QB asking if Homura is from another time like 2 or 3 episodes before it was confirmed was not foreshadowing? What the fuck do you call a plot twist then, because those weren't twists at all if you have a brain in your skull. The aliens thing is actually pretty much the only rational explanation for the crazy shit going on and why QB's acted the way he has, why he has such abilities etc. He's obviously not of this world, where the fuck do you think he came from then? Whether it be from another magic dimension, or from our own universe, he'd still be an alien either way.

You don't seem to have thought it over well enough; maybe you just don't think enough period because Madoka is clearly paced to increase in exponential increments with major revelations coming every 3 episodes, that is ideal pacing for what Shinbo's intended goal was; he clearly likes to time things to draw in the audience deeper and deeper and so it's no surprise he's doing that again here.

Or actually correction, with the exponential increments the revelations started at the pace of one per 3, then one per 2 and now we had a complete revelation in one episode (10). Which means 11 will probably have two big revelations and 12, three.

This pacing is all assuming that the delay and fan reaction has not forced Shinbo to change the story to a happier ending, to better satisfy the mass audience. The show's given us nothing but grief for most of its time, only getting worse and worse, and I think Shinbo underestimated the ability for a audience to take it in like a man and not have bitch fits like they are in fact doing, pledging to break BDs because they feel betrayed by the show hurting their feelings too much to bear. That's literally what some people have been saying on 2ch. So we might not get a super-complex ending but rather a simplistic end in 11 and a slice-of-life aftermath episode 12. Whatever happens will indicate the size of Shinbo's balls, which while assuredly huge, may have been slapped hard by public reaction.

    It's a mindset issue.
If you watch the show looking for faults, you will concentrate on the faults.
If you watch the show hoping for a good show, you will appreciate the good and overlook the faults.

If you convince yourself the show is bad, continuing to watch it will cause you to only pick out more evidence to prove to yourself that you are right.

    Basically, 'haters gonna hate'.

I would argue that there are few moments in Madoka that you would find as bad if you want to view it as a good show.
I was a bit ambivalent on Kyouko's death, but that's just me.

Mentioning azumanga and creaming yourself over nichijou only proves you're still into entry level babby anime. Azumanga was decent but it's not note worthy at all on the extremely long list of hilarious anime out there. I don't find Nichijou very funny either, it seems to base its humor off being "random," which should make /jp/ cringe. It can't compete with the likes of Minami-ke, or Ichigo Mashimaro, or the more recent Mitsudomoe.

I'm more of just trying to caution those unaware, that Madoka may have originally had a really great, powerful ending, but that it may have already been preemptively retconned due to public baww'ing over the GRIMDARK. Pic related is Japanese public watching Madoka.

I suspect it's easily possible that the ending was something crazy, like they would all kill themselves to rid the world of the dangers of puella magi and this disturbs QB enough to just leave, or something else tragic. This delay in airing the end (conveniently blamed on the tsunami) could easily in reality be SHAFT buying time to reposture their end here, so that they can have something that's more TV friendly to save their skins, but watered down in significance.

Japanese are so ingrained to root for happy, cheery, but thoughtless mahou shoujo, that they got seriously disturbed at something actually different. That may be symptomatic of their entire culture though being so rooted in conserving whatever they think "works" though, in this case the mahou shoujo formula.

Couldn't help but notice there all the shows you're listing are all shit with little girls. Now are really talking about comedy, or are you talking about how hard the characters make you?

Probably couldn't watch a comedy centered around a male cast, like Cromartie.

You seem like a pretentious cunt from /a/ who has well-developed "tastes" in anime. We watch what we like here. You probably still bitch and moan about "moe." /a/ still does that, right?

Azumanga is mentioned because it's really similar in feel to Nichijou. Have you not fucking seen it? It feels eerily like a cross between Azumanga and PPD, that is why people are immediately jumping to comparing Nichi to these.

If you haven't seen it yet, then don't speak on the subject until you have, because you literally do not know what you're talking about and are making assumptions.

    You honestly believe that?
Not that I know anything, but I'd be willing to bet that Shaft would sooner not air it at all and release on dvd/bd rather than going through the process of making two episodes from scratch.

Not really. I'm sure I've seen more moe anime than you have too. Azumanga has been talked about so much recently like it's the most funny anime ever it's stupid. There's a long list of other anime which are better/more funny so why are all the kids jumping on azumanga? Obviously because they're still into entry level shit. Anime critics who've viewed 30 anime are laughable.

They may not redo the episodes from scratch but simply be drawing a few new scenes, changing/deleting some other scenes/dialogue, and recording some new dialogue.

It could also be that SHAFT is taking the opportunity to now milk the ending, in order to build up suspense and to keep the public talking about the show for far longer than they would have been if they got to roll out the end as planned. Which would actually be pretty ingenious marketing.

Lastly the most obvious possibility is that the broadcasters shit themselves from complaints or something and are cockblocking an otherwise-ready SHAFT.

Ok, so this is a competition about who has seen more anime now? Yeah, go back to /a/ where you and all of your underage buddies can argue about Eva and K-On.

This reminds me of that doujin cover with Saten and Uiharu on it. I wonder if we will see her in such a doujinshi eventually.

So are anime critics that have viewed 100. You should need to view 500 (all individual franchises) before anyone can seriously seek out your opinion on the matters of anime quality. People can only know things by their opposites, so excuses the low-level casuals use like "but there are only 50 good anime" don't fly.

What do you mean "recently"? Azumanga's been on Cowboy Bebop status as an accepted/approved entry level anime on /a/ ,for I'd say at least 5 years now. Unless you'd call that recent.

It just so happens that Nichijou feels a lot like Azumanga and so that show, which otherwise lies dead and undiscussed, is getting brushed off again because people want to do some comparisons. And even so they're hardly bringing up the subject, there are no big Azumanga vs Nichijou threads in sight, it's just a casual observation, irrelevant to Nichijou for the most part.

According to my list, I have seen 457 series so far (5072 episodes total). Not counting series dropped halfway. And yet Azumanga Daioh remains one of my all times favorites. How many more do I still need to watch until I'm not into "entry level babby anime" anymore ?
