Honestly, I can only see good things coming out of /jp/ being axe'd.

The cream of the board will refuse to go back to /a/ and will most likely go to Bun or stalk Eksopl until he enables thread posting in the archive. If all that fails some time afterward a board similar to /jp/ will obviously show up with the advantage of being away from 4chan and at least in theory less likely of being plagued by assorted raids and moderation assholery.

On the other side most of the touhoufags, the tripfags and all the shitposters of /jp/ will invade /a/ and make that place a living hell until moots decides to split the board again, hopefully with an anime and a manga board this time around.

/jp/ is home to a special kind of poster. It reminds me of what /a/ used to be back in the day. A place to take it easy, to share and discuss what we enjoy. Where we can stretch out discussions and threads for days at a time.

When I started coming here, I was pleasantly surprised to find very little metathreads, almost no 'ronerey' threads and people who knew how to use sage properly. For the most part, the posters here are very level-headed, thoughtful and smart.

/jp/ is like a home to me. I don't know what I'd do if it got deleted. I don't mind /a/ but the board moves so quickly that a lot of the interesting threads get bumped off into oblivion. Also, this season is kinda dull.

We had a meta thread tonight where only a few people were reasonable, and most were insulting moot and being ungrateful shitposters. moot said he was thinking about deleting the board, and got a combination of "baww you're an asshole" and "do it faggot."

/new/ was just a bunch of racist bullshit.

the thing that i appreciate the most about /jp/ is the posting rate
it's a very comforting, somewhat slow speed

it's an easy pace to have one on one conversations with, but multiple participants works quite well too

most of the board population seems to be from the older days, and have a very firm grasp on imageboard etiquette
the level of overreaction seen on this board is very limited, as an example, there are no explosive fits thrown due to having sage in the email field

the groups that have not been around as long seem very respectful toward the way the rest of the board moves, and they adapt quite quickly to the easygoing mood and slow flow atmosphere

the thing that helps the most through this, is new threads are not made as nonsensically as the other discussion boards
these threads will reach much higher post counts, and will go on for days at a time
other boards, if you really enjoy a thread but your body is telling you it's bed time, you'll be very lucky if you can come back to it in the morning (or night)

thank you for clearing that up

i forgot about the large non-dnd population that /tg/ is made up of now

We have a LOT in common with /tg/. They are like a brother from another mother; two peas in the same pod.

We're of a similar mindset of /lit/ as well but surprisingly enough I don't think we're quite as elitist as they are (there comes a certain plateau of humbleness from admitting you play VNs)

come on guys sure i read the red text but moot serious has a stick up his butt lately about this site and how its not living up to his expectations. whats to stop him from deleting /jp/? it gets raided practically everyday. although i personally enjoy it here it rarely lives up to be anything more than an /a/lite.

and to the trolls screaming autism in every thread tonight. yeah. we get it.

Seems you can't read the red text either.
The idea of /jp/ being deleted right now is just wildly inconsistent, if it was going to be done it would be done this summer in the full on flood raids.

But no one was working or seemingly cared.

He is going to be taken complaints from /r9k/ users non stop, I guarantee that. I just wonder what sort of plan he has to deal with that

Good riddance, those boards took simple and fun discriminatory trolling material and turned it into their fucking mission statements and believed them wholeheartedly. That kind of stupidity and denial of logic gives me butt hemhorraging of the worst kind.
    >> Anonymous 01/18/11(Tue)00:34 No.6826845
I consider the /tg/ connection a nerd camaraderie. These days, you get a lot of dregs passing themselves off as nerds without commitment. They'll watch a few sci-fi movies, buy some fake glasses, and then pick up bar sluts that think they want nerds. If you're an avid D&D player, you've already made a leap that most of those people can't. /jp/ interests don't have the history of tabletop games but they are followed through with the kind of disregard for normalcy that has always been the hallmark of nerds.

I really love to consider /tg/ closer but I just don't see their presence that much at all, or at least they are very quiet about it.

I mean once in a long while we'll see something pop up like a warhammer 40k image pop up.

Personally I like em just because of the analysis and case studies they did of that Manic pack of mysterious board perma trolls

I can bet with my life that most of /jp/ even played /tg/ games like TCGs, tabletops at one point. So yeah, /tg/ is a bro.

They come out of the woodwork when there's threads on designing Magic decks here. Although, I think it's partly that both userbases are too polite to crosspost all the time, and so we keep to ourselves even if we lurk both boards.

Tell them to move onto /soc/, since that's what /r9k/ pretty much was?

/r9k/ was just an experiment using that filter, it devolved into a more urbane version of today's /b/. With /lit/, /int/, and now /soc/, there's simply no reason for /r9k/ to exist.

I stopped going to /tg/ because it's full of terrible posters. if you post an unpopular opinion the neckbeards will rage at you and threads about actual games are greatly outnumbered by furry fanfiction. plus even though it's a board for nerdy shit the posters are disgustingly normal with tons of "the gm's girlfriend..." posts. plus it's full of faggots who are actually autistic and not just pretending like the ones here. I want to kill myself every time I see a thread complaining about how some game doesn't model armor realistically enough or why wizard should be the only class worth playing.

Way to remember only the negative aspects.

Actually they are more in tradition with /adv/ especially near the end, watching to see how many people will migrate there.

    >>6827181
I think I just out grew that whole realm of entertainment but I am very glad it still has a place. Hands on crafting, painting and tale creating are some pretty artistic skills to want to carry on.

Everything shouldn't have to be instantly digitized to be enjoyable..

    How are /tg/ meetups?

I used to play D&D and Shadowrun. And I played GURPS for a while but it turns out that browsing too much 4chan turned me into THAT GUY and nobody ever called me back.
I don't think I'd want to go back with people calling their characters Neko or something like that anyway.

that's just what I'm talking about. every time I would post a thread trying to discuss why I felt a certain game was flawed or wondering why people do certain things every response would be "go back to /v/" "I bet you play halo" "don't feed the troll" etc.

meanwhile the most popular threads are "post images to give me inspiration for a new character" which has barely any relevance to actually playing games and almost always devolves into porn/furry porn, and "*quest" threads which as far as I can tell are glorified "see this. what do?" threads.

mmm. Sounds like /tg/ made the common mistake of mistaking you for a troll.

Oh well. I think it's improved from the bad old days, but there's still a noticeable troll presence and /tg/ is still very thin-skinned, so I don't think you're missing much.

Sage because this isn't really a /jp/ thread

And the best part? A lot of /tg/ regulars are seen on /k/ as well.

/jp/ is really laid back its more like a close group of friends who share inside jokes with others going wtf what they laughing at.

Most/jp/ers are way more helpful and insightful when they discuss topics.

    /tg/ & /jp/: storytellers
    /jp/ & /k/: collectors
    /k/ & /tg/: historians
